Title: Recipes for a house warming party please
Post by: Soph77 on May 18, 2012, 10:20:29 pm
We are having our house warming next weekend. I've kind of forgotten about it and have been focusing on tomorrow's marathon - oops! It's from 4pm with kids as well and the adults will be staying until late so I need a fair bit, and a variety of food. And it will probably be cold. I'm after some recipes please I can prepare this week. I'd like to enjoy the party instead of being in the kitchen all night! I'm planing already on some dips (cashew, beetroot, Parmesan and four beam hommus?) and we plan to throw some sausages on the BBQ for the kids early on. But that's as far as I've got!

Hi Soph, I do an annual bonfire party and do Nigella's ham cooked in coke, a big bowl of slow cooked baked beans, and jacket potatoes. Can all be done in advance and then just out it all out and let people serve themselves with big basket of bread. I then have a whole lot of cheeses, with platter of brownies for dessert. I have got it down to a bit of a fine art and it is easy to do and good on a cold night.  Or have also done before big bowls of chili with jacket potatoes and all the chilli toppings.

Bickie, I like your idea of a jacket potato with a topping of some description.  It's so easy to fill the oven with potatoes and have different toppings all pre-made and ready to heat.

Mini quiches and frirtatas are always handy.  The baked potato idea is a good one, especially with the colder weather here.  Sweet things could be slices or brownies, etc.

Bread cases are always a winner. Can fill them with anything.
