Title: Newbie from Mona Vale Part 2 re MC!!
Post by: suziq on June 16, 2012, 04:33:27 am
Hello everyone - thank you so much for making me feel so welcome on this forum!!

I thought I would comment further about the MC - last night during the making of my chicken dish I watched the way the MC was behaving as the cooking was a similar situation to what I had done previously using the Varoma 100 deg. heat setting for the mac cheese - the MC moved slightly compared to the other time when the food erupted when the MC was pointing down.

Just for your info I read in the instruction manual page 16 about the MC it says . . . "place the MC into the opening in the lid with its opening showing upwards. Only when using the butterfly: position the MC with the opening pointing downwards."

I have been doing a lot of reading today on this very wet Sydney day - just love the "Devil of a Cookbook" for its wonderful recipes and photos of Tassie - what a beautiful place to live. Also the vegetarian book has some great ideas.

Even though I have only had the Thermomix a couple of days, I am finding I am thinking about food in a different way - have you found this?  Yesterday when making the chock chip cookies, the way the 250g hard butter was creamed together with sugars was just amazing, normally when doing it the other way in a mixer I always leave butter out before beating.

I know I will go on forever, so I will stop right here and just say I hope you are having a wonderful day, whatever you are doing.

Best wishes, SuziQ

Well I've learnt something today. Two things actually. The first is what you've told me about the measuring cup and the second is to always read instruction manuals!

Yep! A favourite saying in this house is . . ."When all else fails, it's time to read the instructions. . .!" ;D

typical Aussies, read instruction manual last hahahaha!!!!  And yep MC upside down is best, lets steam escape instead of getting trapped and exploding.

Enjoy your TMX I love mine

Welcome to the forum SuziQ. I have had my TMX nearly 2 years and in all that time I have had the MC in the wrong way.

You always learn something new on here.

Thanks for that information SuziQ.  I'm one of those people that very rarely read the instructions.  DH on the other hand always reads them first.

So true JD! I go to sleep thinking about it, wake up and think about it, and DREAM about it!

A belated welcome susiq. I have always used my MC that way as that was the way I was shown. However a friend who is a consultant insists it goes the other way. I  must tell her about the steam being trapped.
