Title: Cracked Dinner Set
Post by: Halex on July 09, 2012, 11:31:37 pm: One of our dinnersets is "crazy cracked" it has lots of tiny looking cracks all over.

Is it safe to use or should I throw it out?

Scared that I put hot soup in the bowl it might break & burn the kids.

I dont need another dinner set, i have 6 that I can think of right now, plus a christmas set.

BWaaaaa. I don't have a dinner set but I do have 63 white plates of various size. I see on hs a chip so 62.

I had a beautiful white lasagna dish that got crazed . It cooked for years until.......

Next morning there was no water left in it :o :o In the bin that went and low and behold a few days later DD2 gave me 2 more casserole dishes with my Mothers' Day presents. She had no idea of what had happened here with the lasagne dish so it was very timely indeed. You could try the same thing Hally, fill it with water overnight and see if it is still there in the morning.

Post by: achookwoman on July 10, 2012, 07:06:55 am: H, it all depends if the crazing is just in the top glaze or all the way through , like a crack. If just in the top layer then you can still use it. If right through , chuck.

Post by: EmeraldSue on July 10, 2012, 12:18:03 pm: Just recently, my lasagne dish cracked on me. It had fine crazing for ages, but when I put the cold meat sauce in it, it cracked and broke. I'm now perusing POK for a new one. It was given to me over 20 years ago, and had been used quite a lot.
I'd get rid of the dinner set, seeing how you have others to choose from.
