HI I'm Beth and I moved to Sydney about 6 months ago from Brisbane. I'm originally from Chicago and moved to Australia for what was supposed to be 2-3 yrs with my dh for work. We were in Canberra for 4 years before moving to Brisbane for 8 1/2 yrs and then to Sydney. I like Sydney but I'm really missing Brisbane!
I first heard about the Thermomix about 2 yrs ago when I was talking to a friend about a pressure cooker that I got for Mother's Day (I seem to ask for and get appliances for the different holidays :D ). I'd never heard of it before but a friend said they were all the rage in Perth. Fast forward to last winter when I friend got one for her birthday and I knew I wanted one for myself. I'd told my dh that if we had to move to Sydney he was buying me one since I surely would have a tiny kitchen and well, I ended up with both!
I'm really enjoying it and have used it to make all sorts of things and my dh and 2 girls are both starting to use it which is nice.

Welcome from one newbie to another ;D

Hi Beth - a very warm welcome to the forum - and to Sydney! Hope you've all settled in well down here - Enjoy your adventures with the TMX! It really is a miracle machine - particularly in a small kitchen! It's so good the rest of the family is joining in, too! :D

I feel weird welcoming people to the forum, because I still feel like such a newbie myself, but welcome anyway Beth! ;-)
I 've been to both Sydney & Brisbane, and I agree - I much prefer Brisbane. Especially seeing as I'm from Melbourne, the Brisbane weather is very enticing.
You'll love this forum, great recipes and great people!

Nice Bethwood. Would be a busy place then? I miss the shops of Sydney but not the pace or people.
-
Beth you must be near Peters of Kensington. That is one of our favourites here. It frequently gets a mention in the Shopping Thread.

Thanks everyone! After I posted I realised my subject heading was a bit strange :o
Gert, I am very close to Peters of Kensington - I could walk there if I wanted to. It seems like every time I go past it's closed but I hope to make it there soon.

Beth - your guardian angels are looking out for you- keeping the doors closed on you!! When and if you go, make sure you leave cash, credit cards, chequebook etc. at home!! It's an absolute minefield!! ;D ;D I try to even avoid it online!!! ;D ;D
Seriously though, it's an absolutely fabulous store - I'm sure you could do all your personal, birthday, Christmas - and whatever - shopping there - and usually at excellent bargain prices. Let's know how you go . . . . . . !!
