Title: Ideas for using a flopped choc cake (dairy free) pls With photo
Post by: ~[fruity]~ on August 02, 2012, 05:06:10 am
I rushed to make a choc cake (dairy free egg free) for a girlfriend who didn't end up visiting today (yeah I know I'm meant to be resting :roll eyes) and the cake stuck to the silicone form pan. What can I do with it? And just to make it a bit curly it had to be dairy free (and my kids aren't all that fond of the grey custard that almond milk makes) :-))

Thank in advance.

I have a recipe for chocolate drop biscuits, very easy. Sorry this recipe is one my mum use to make when she had cakes stick or stale cake. No idea where it is from originally.

3 1/2 cups cake crumbs
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup dairy free margarine
1/2 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
6 tblsp cold water
1 tsp vanilla

Place all the ingredients in bowl except water and mix until combined. Add enough of the cold water in to get the correct consistency.
Place tsp fulls onto your baking sheet and bake @ 180 for approx 10 mins.

Use a cutter and cut out shapes from it and ice them.

Add a tiny bit of orange juice and roll it into balls and roll in coconut.

About to go in oven.  Cut circle out of cake. Warmed some raspberry plum and cherry jam poured that over cake then some poached pear halves over that then a meringue over top. Will brown top. Fx it tastes good.
