Title: Freezer - Christmas
Post by: Shazzy on November 21, 2012, 12:43:26 pm
Hi We are going to Bali mid December til Christmas Eve (get home around 9pm Christmas Eve) which we are all looking forward to. On Christmas afternoon/evening we are having all my husbands extended family here for dinner - which will be lovely and Im looking forward to. Everyones bringing things to contribute. Apart from providing the venue Im also looking at a dessert or 2 and some nibblies. As we will be away Im looking at things I can make before we leave and freeze.
My thoughts so far are

Swedish icecream cheescake
Jonros fudge - cookies and cream and the salted version
The ususal chips and nuts

Thats about it though so far  :)  I dont need to provide alot but would like a variety of a few things if possible.

Anyone got any other ideas??? Thanks

I say keep it simple from the freezer   and pantry. Maybe some sausage rolls you have ready for.the  pantry that need  only to be defrosted..

What about mini pav's? They can be made before you go and you only need to have fruit and whipped cream to decorate.

Thanks for the ideas. Pavs are a good idea - hadnt thought of those. Thanks Fundj for letting me know about the icream cheescake - I will probably have to make it the day before we leave if I decide to do that.

Any cakes freeze well, I always freeze ILB chocolate cake.  You can just ice on the day.

A batch of your favourite cookie dough and bake on Christmas morning.

I love those truffle balls made with a can of condensed milk, arrowroot biscuits, cocoa and rolled in coconut and they freeze and defrost perfectly - I would actually say a lot of truffles should freeze easily.

I am about to make some of Amy's quiches and I understand these freeze well too - mini muffin size could be good for a starter?
