Well after a terrible messy and failed attempt using another recipe, I made this recipe yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic :)
http://becs-table.com.au/cooking-school/ice-cream-cones/
Crunchy, crispy and exactly like a waffle cone should taste. The first few I rolled had big holes at the bottom but after a couple of goes I managed to get it right and next time I will make them and fill the bottoms with Chocolate to prevent the icecream from dripping out.
Give them a whirl ;) ;D but remember to make lots of ice-cream to fill them first!

Sounds fab!

Your timing is perfect Meagan....I bought one yesterday :D
I think you've saved me much frustration with the box recipe!
thanks, :-*

I used to make hundreds of cones a day.....
looks good ;D

Thanks so much Meagan, I was going to ask if anyone had a recipe not that happy with the one i tried last night.
I was thinking marshmallows in the bottom of the cone.
-
marshmallows is good Jen, or dip the end in chocolate, like a drumstick. :)

Where did you girls purchase your kits?
-
Santa ;) but I am pretty sure he bought it from kitchen warehouse for $20 reduced from $29

Thanks Meagan. :)

My was also a christmas present think it was about the same price as Meagan's from matchbox.

I have a Breville electric waffle cone maker and it is terrible. Don't buy one of these. The heat is uneven and cooks dark brown on one side and uncooked on the other. This recipe is certainly much better than the one that came with it. You can see where the heating element is as this is where it is dark brown.

I've had my eye on those. Thanks Meagan. I just have to get over to GC to a Matchbox store.

I battled with my electric one, all afternoon. I finally placed a sheet of foil, doubled between the top plate and the mixture, once it had set. Still not good, but a lot better.
-
I forgot to add my tweaks.... mill your sugar, remove. Melt the butter and possibly set some extra melted butter aside for brushing the surface of the plates. remove and let the bowl cool down. follow the recipe as stated.

Hi Megan, Couldn't find this at the Kitchen Warehouse Site. Is it the one on Bec's site or another brand?
-
Yes Trudy the exact same one :)
-
Trudy they are on the matchbox website.

Thanks for this Meagan I haven't been on much recently and no time for cooking so great to see you have worked on a recipe, my first attempt while tasting great didn't go crisp.

Thanks Meagan & Jeninwa!!
