I'm a bit of an outsider, not got a TM yet. I've enjoyed a demo by Aneta and intend to buy one.
I have a twin auger juicer (Green Power Hippocrates) with extras to produce nut butters. I was considering a Vitamix - But no more!
My special interest is indian and pakistani cuisine. I suspect a TM would be perfect to produce Haleem. Its made with ground lamb, cracked wheat and 3 or 4 types of dhal.
Also more healthy options involving whole foods and veggies.

Welcome Martin. I'd say a thermomix is just what you need. It would grind the lamb well for you and even crack the wheat. There is an Indian cookbook for thermomix but I am sure you will be able to share some of your recipes from your favourite cuisines.

Hi and welcome to the forum Martin

Hi Martin, welcome to the forum. You were obviously impressed with the Thermomix demo and I hope you manage to order one in the near future and share some recipes with us once you perfect them.
-
Hello and welcome Martin! :D

Welcome Martin to the forum, l'm looking forward to reading about what you create in the Thermomix.

Hello and welcome to the forum Martin. :)

Ooops
so how do I upload a pic, please?

Hello and welcome Martin :)

Martin, have a read of this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=191.0) thread and see if you can make sense of it.
If you are using an iPad, read this (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7898.0).

Hi and welcome Martin. :)

Keep trying Martin. Eventually you will crack it.

Ok getting message - You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh.
here goes

Wouldn't take all 4 at once - so 2 more
-
Yay, you got it Martin. They are a bit big once you click on them though (on both the iPad and computer) so perhaps you could halve the size next time.
-
Well done Martin.now what is that you are making Avocado and beet root?
Gert
-
Well, the guy making it is Aiden Byrne, a chef I photographed.
He's making a desert with avocado and beetroot, here is the recipe. Oh and he uses a TMX :P

Cool photos Martin, thanks for posting them :D
The dessert looks interesting ;D

Hi and welcome
-
Well, I ordered one yesterday. For anyone who regularly uses a blender and needs a good grinder, it's a no brainer. And that's without the added benefits of cooking and weighing.
I'd have bought a TM31 earlier if I'd realised all it did. I suppose that says something about Vorwerk's eccentric marketing.

Good for you Martin, guess we will be hearing more from you once it arrives.

Well done Martin...... You have crossed over now ;) ;D

Welcome and its good to hear from another man.

Thank you Ladies. My first recipe, Halva Flapjacks worked really well. I swopped the walnuts for half and half almonds and pecans.
My first problem was making butter from about 850g double cream, the simple version on p163 of Fast and Easy Cooking. I churned about speed 6 for ages and all I have is very smooth thick cream that is getting a bit warm from the friction (obviously I didn't apply any heat)
Any ideas?
-
Possibly it was a bit too much. Did you use the butterfly? If so don't go above speed 4. Were you with the tmx all the time? It is possible that it turned into butter and then back into cream if you weren't present to turn it off at the butter stage.
-
No butterfly. I did watch it, mostly :-\ but that is probably the problem - I nipped out to the car :-))
So now it looks like I will have a questionable dairy item in my fridge! I'll just have to try again.
One thing I just noticed Fast and Easy... says speed 5-8 but Fast and Easy Indian Cookery says just speed 5
Thanks for the quick answer

I used this method and it's amazing! Thank you, Gert.
As suggested 600g double cream, used the butterfly at max speed 4. It quickly separated (under 30 secs) The TM was struggling to continue turning.
Poured off buttermilk about 200g, washed with cold water. Removed butterfly and churned at speed 4 again, poured off and squeezed out water and ended with about 335g lovely cream coloured butter.
The cream cost £1.99 (Costco) for 1L
Fantastic

Yeah ;D :D Congratulations.
