Title: Dariole moulds
Post by: joybell on May 07, 2013, 05:44:08 am
Hi. I would like to try using dark ole moulds in the varoma but don't own any at present. I read an old thread where they recommended some plastic ones but when I went to the site it recommended the top temp for the moulds was 120 degrees. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I use plastic ones all the time. Sorry but I don't have the brand name so not much help.

I use the Nestlé ones and things are fine. I also have some metal ones about the same size. The Nestlé ones are easier to turn out.

joybell,I believe the Nestle molds are also suitable for the microwave so are fine for steaming in the varoma.

Thanks again for your thoughts. I couldn't find any of the Nestlé moulds either (or I did but couldn't find it again). I did get some Masterchef silicone pudding moulds from Spotlight of all places. They have a bigger volume, 240 mls if I remember correctly. Will let you know how they work out.

Kimmy, try this site for the Nestle molds - just scroll down to the plastic ones. You can buy them separately or in a box of 50

Sorry to hijack but I have recently bought some  metal dariole moulds. What recipes would you recommend them for and are there any healthy recipes? I'm trying to be good.

Sorry you didn't get a reply. I used the silicon ones to make some steamed lemon puddings from Alyce A's book. Metal ones would work too.

I have used silicone moulds made by Tupperware and Chef's Toolbox and both were great.  I often use ramekins, metal ones from my Amway set as well.
