Hi all,
My name is Kelly and I have had my Thermie for 2 weeks, and so far so good.
I have started my adventure by doing lots of recipes from the EDC, 99% have worked out perfectly.
I'm definitely a 'quick, easy and healthy' cook and looking forward to joining in and trying new recipes and meeting new peeps!

Hi Kelly - a very warm welcome to the forum! Sounds as though you've been very busy!! If you haven't already seen it, take a look at this thread - a cookbook in itself - tried, tested and true recipes from CreamPuff, a most respected forum member!! ;D

Hi goldfish!
Thankyou very much. No, I have not seen that link yet... Heading there now. Appreciate you sharing 😊
-
Hi and welcome to the forum :)
-
Hello Kelly, welcome to the forum. It sounds as if you've had great success with the EDC, they certainly seem to have improved that cookbook since I got mine back in 2008 which is great to see. Thanks for joining us, have fun with your cooking and here on the forum.

Hi Kelly and welcome to the forum. Good to hear that you are enjoying your tmx.. :)
-
Thanks ladies!
I should also mention that I have 8 week old baby, and a (now becoming fussy) 2 and 1/2 year old. So any great links for baby / toddler food would be appreciated. TIA
-
Kelly, I can highly recommend the latest book from HO - the Baby & Toddler Book. Read all about it here. (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=13162.0) I've done quite a few recipes from it and I don't even have babies - I spice the recipes up for adults.
-
Welcome to the forum Kelly. We have quite a few people on here with young children so I am sure you will find lovely recipes for your toddler.
-
Welcome to the forum Kelly. TMX will certainly make your life easier with a toddler and a new baby. Are they the cuties on your avatar? There is a baby and toddler thread which is very good and a member Cornish Cream has linked some Annabel Karmel recipes here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=12817.0). :D

We add our photos to whatever thread we're contributing to, Kelly... Are those your efforts?? They look wonderful
-
Great pics Kelly. If we do a recipe from the forum we add a photo and review under the recipe. If we do a recipe from one of the many TMX books, we have a special review section for those recipes so your photo would go along with the review, in the What's for dinner or lunch or What are you Cooking threads, same thing applies. You will find photos everywhere on here so I look forward to seeing many more of yours - if anything is going to sell a recipe, it is a photo.
-
Welcome kelinoz. Haha GF you're funny I could get a big head if I wanted to believe everything I read ;D
-
:)Welcome L plater, I suppose I would be classified as having my P's and I'm sure it won't take you long either. Your journey will be fun with possibly a few 'pot holes' along the way, Mine was mashed potato, more like glue, but that is part of the learning curve. How cute are your babies!!
-
Thanks Kookla... Haha... Yes I have already made 'glue'... What's your secret? ... My guess was over stirring?
-
I find potato is best cooked in the steaming basket then mashed in the bowl with the butterfly at speed 3 for about 10 sec to start with girls. I add butter and S & P then a small amount of milk after the 10 seconds and mix again for a few more seconds. I find some types of potatoes need no milk but none of them need a whole lot. Glue potatoes are usually beaten too long. Everyone has their favourite method though so it's up to you to work out what suits you best.
-
I followed the recipe in the EDC the first time, cooking the potatoes in the milk-disaster! Next I tried steaming them in the varoma basket, took way too long, ended up throwing them in a saucepan to finish as the rest of the meal was ready. Maybe I didn't have the temp high enough at 100 degrees and pieces too large? I now make them the 'old fashioned' way,at least I know they will turn out right. Maybe I will give it another go sometime when I have some rice in the fridge to fall back on.
-
Kookla,, you need to use the varoma temperature to steam vegies.
-
Hello an welcome Kellie. :)
Your girls are gorgeous and your thermomixing efforts look great!! :D
I have a 2.5yr old too, but thankfully so far she has not been fussy, I put it down to her always having had 'proper' food as I got the TM when she was a bub. :)
We love TM mashed potato here, took a bit of trial and error but now would not do it any other way! :)
-
Thanks for the tips Judy, I will be sure to give potatoes another go. :D

Hi and welcome to the Forum Kelinoz. I think most of us have made glue at least once. I too just steam mine in the basket now. Add butter and a little (if any) milk. Love your photos and your little angels in the Avator.
