Title: Recipe Conversions
Post by: nmiles76 on July 08, 2013, 11:16:05 am
Hi Guys, I have been on recipe community quite a bit since I got my Thermomix a little over 2 weeks ago.  I have made some amazing stuff so far.
The thing I would like to know is how do you go about using recipes other than those through Thermomix sites.  I have a bunch of Weight Watchers cook books and would like to utilise some of those recipes as well.  Is it just a case of trial and error or is there a resource out there that I can use?
Thanks in advance....

Until you are used to the TMX,  it is probably easiest to find a similar recipe and use the time/ temperature / speed and then apply these to your recipe.  Make sure you write down any adjustments you make.    It will soon become second nature and you will adapt recipes very easily.   Because they are WW recipes you wish to adapt,  you could consider experimenting with the Varoma for fat free recipes.

I have only converted a couple of recipes but found by finding a similar recipe already made for the tmx and doing it that way someone with more experience will come and help you I'm sure ;D

As Chookie says it will become second nature, but that may take a while.
The best thing to do until then is to find a similar recipe that is already converted and get times, temperaures and speeds from that.
If you get really stuck people have been known to put the recipe up on the forum and ask for help in converting.

Always go in small steps. I can still make a good coleslaw soup if I try and rush.  :D

Some recipes cant be converted tho. Make sure you read the conventional method thru well, as you may need to change a couple of steps to fit in with the TM way. Always good to find even a similar type of recipe to guide you, and if you could look through your EDC and this forum
