Suggest you are better to aim at the legs ...  slows them down more and they can still use their arms to cook in the Thermomix.   ;) ;)

BTW - congratulations

Oh Spanner you have been such good therapy for me - had a tiring morning filling the green bin with weeds then crushing cans to go and cash in for the grand-children's money boxes.  Went to light the BBQ to cook DH some steak and sausages for lunch and the gas bottle was empty and needed changing over.  Managed to get myself into a right mood when that didn't go as easily as I expected.  DH by this time came to take over (not easy in a wheelchair, that is why I do most things myself) and he told me to go take a cold shower to calm down.  Whilst he is cooking lunch I came on here and your posting gave me my first laugh for the morning and I feel better already.  Thanks and congratulations for ordering your TMX  :-* :-*

Miss 3 often refers to it as a "Demomix" - well I'm always off doing demos for the thermomix - just easier to combine the two....

As long as they dont start calling it your mixamotosis thing
???
We'll keep that one quiet thanks Spanner  ;)  :-X

At least I'm not the only one at work with one now - Maggie's my tmx buddy  ;) ;D

But she's on "other" side of the road while I'm on "this" side - they don't let us mingle too often  ;)  just kidding

Mmmmm. Mixamotosis. I wonder if I could make that in my TMX. :P :P :P It's much better than  Calicivirus ( ;) TMXer's been here )
Actually Mixamotosis isn't a bad name for a TMX.
Are you a country boy Spanner?

Nah .... Im a wanna be farmer. I am into permiculture and alternative "things" working in the mainstream suburban grind.

My freinds all call me farmer Dave as I have on a 600 sq/m property  (which is actually a duplex so Half that again) hydroponics, a hugly productive veg plot (very small in size but good production), chooks for laying and eating, fruit trees etc etc etc.

I would dearly love to be "out in the bush" but unfortunatly life style choices are not multi faceted like some personalities can be..... I work in Mental Health.

Hey Spanner, know where you are coming from about being a wanna be farmer....everyone tells me that we should be living on acreage.  We have a third of an acre but most of it is taken up with house, swimming pool and a half court tennis court (all put in by previous owner).  I have a little patch of grass that I am currently turning into raised vegetable gardens with a chicken tractor sitting on top which houses one very very doted on and spoilt pullet.  I have a cubby house that has been turned into a chicken coop for four other not quite so doted on chickens.  We also have a cat, three dogs, three cockatiels and a multitude of budgerigars.

I am currently running two nft hydroponic systems and three flood and drain systems plus a couple of bucket systems.  Unfortunately they are all quite neglected at the moment as I have been too busy with work to do very much but will have to get my act into gear before spring.

I got my thermomix just on a week ago and am loving it.  It is giving me inspiration to get back into the garden and get things planted so that I have fresh produce to use in it.  My basil plants and other herbs are looking very denuded after all the plucking and cutting that they have gotten this week.  I even planted four tomato plants because I was so dissatisfied with the bought tomatoes that I used in my tomato sauce a couple of nights ago.  I am finally not giving away most of our eggs because we are constantly making custards and various baked goods.

You will NOT regret this purchase!!!

Take care
Stacey

Spanner  you sure fit a lot onto your land area, well done. I'm envious. Thanks TMXer for fixing my spelling, I was too lazy to go and find a book to check it.
Do you find your occupation interesting Spanner? You would never be short of customers, that's for sure. DD is a pharmacist and has just returned to Mental health, she quite enjoys it, but she isn't really at the 'coal face'.  More standing back and advising.
Keep the funnies coming Spanner.

Nothing wrong with us suburban farmers... we have chooks in a tractor and an ever expanding garden patch. :)

Surprises people regularly who visit.  Younger boys are often shocked that people have play equipment in their yards... since we have a very nice park about 250m from home.  :P

Wonder if the TMX will affect my "Earth Mother" title?  :-))

I'll attempt to tell you what I have growing on my very VERY small house block and why I am very keen to get the TMX.

What is growing in my garden as of today for edible purposes:

1.   ginger
2.   egg plant
3.   lemon grass
4.   three types of bananas
5.   chillies
6.   2 types of basil
7.   mandarin
8.   2 types of lemon
9.   lemonade tree
10.   parsley
11.   silver beet
12.   coriander
13.   tomatoes
14.   potatoes
15.   spring onions
16.   corn (F-1 hybrid)
17.   comfrey
18.   longan
19.   jaboticaba
20.   custard apple
21.   sugar cane
22.   garlic chives
23.   boc choy
24.   pak choy
25.   Vap Ca
26.   Hibiscus spinach
27.   carrot
28.   miracle fruit
29.   mint
30.   Vietnamese mint
31.   Kang Kong
32.   Beetroot
33.   Peas
34.   Guatemalan spinach
35.   sweet potato
36.   passion fruit
37.   rose water Apple
38.   7 yr beans
39.   carambola
40.   guava
41.   4 – 5 indigenous bush foods I can not remember the name of such as wombat berry
42.   Chooks for eggs
43.    Chooks to eat - Meat

I do this on a very VERY small block of land ( less than 600 sm including the house itself) in suburbia through the wise use of land including the nature strip and the use of Hydroponics.

Slightly off topic I know but with all this fresh food available to me I want to use it to its best potential.

Sure do but I am keen to get out of it in the not too distant future. I do love wortking with pweople and helping people but I think I wanna be a fireman. .......  no really ... a real life fireman with a hose and axe ....  and get to ride around in a big red truck ( beats the wiggles car) and then get to sleep at work!

What could be better??????

Thought it was a bit much to quote the whole list - but BOY did it make me jealous  :D  We're suburban farmers too (called Home Farmers here), in our little semi-detached house with small garden (although we do have 2 allotments).  I am growing some ginger too - inside, on a windowsill!  Last year's lemon grass didn't make it through the winter cold snap - despite being inside!  :P

Lemons - mandarins - bananas .... I'm just green with envy.  Going out to look at my apples, pears, blueberries, rhubarb, raspberries and strawberries until I feel a bit better about it all ....

Lemon grass grows almost like a weed in North Queensland ...all year round.

I'm envious of you all.  We live on 2.5 acres of beautiful fertile land in a valley renowned for growing vegies but sadly we grow very little.  It's not that we don't want to.  We have a land buffer around our property to protect it somewhat from cropping sprays, but it is just not enough. On spraying days it's not uncommon for me to pack my children up and take them to my parents house for the day (my eldest son has asthma).  I don't want them to breathe it in or eat it!!!  The reality of life in the country I guess.  Enjoy your homegrown produce!!!

Chelsea - can sympathise with you. Until late last year we lived on 40 acres surrounded by farms.  When Grace was just a baby I remember taking her for a walk in the pram. On our way back I noticed one of the neighbours spraying and the drift was going straight across the road where we were walking!! I was horrified and it was a very quick sprint!!  The farmer told me it was just a bit of "something" to stop the weeds....

Hi Chelsea,

I am not sure where you come from but I am sure that in Australia it is illeagal for other peoples spray tp drift onto your property.

It is called (ironically) spray drift. Check it out with your local council or the state / fedral statutes and there may be something there that will help you to stop this person from spraying TOXIC substances that are potentially VERY harmful to you and your children.  >:(  :'(
   >:(
If you can try and get some video of the farmer and the spray drift along with some footage of either TV or the days paper to validate the date and time of the spray drift.

Cheers,

Healthily yours

Spanner

Thank you Spanner.  I'm in Tassie so I will look into this.  Last time they sprayed it was really bad and I ran the children out to the car with clothes tied over their little faces.  By the time I had both of them in the car I was coughing like crazy and had a huge headache (didn't think of a cloth for me)!

if ti is that bad then i am POSITIVE that the spray drift would be illegal.   >:( >:( >:(

Ill see if I can also find out anything for you as well.   ;)
