Hi everyone!
Been lurking around for a while but decided to join in the fun! I just got my TM for less than a week but had made more food than I did for the month. I'm really loving this machine. So far I've made meat and veg stock, hainan chicken rice plus chilli (awesome), lychee and mint sorbet (winner), chicken congee (still looking for a good recipe), bread rolls (turned out a bit odd) and cooked lots of nutritious chicken stock for my boy. However, I do feel that there is a lack of Asian food recipe on the net. As in the homey, street food that I'm familiar with. I don't have an Asian cookbook either as i didn't make my purchase in Asia. I'm such a novice that I'm not even bothering to convert recipes to TM version at the moment. So if there is anyone out willing to share their blog or recipes, especially Asian food, it will be really appreciated! I don't have any recipes to swap with yet, but maybe next time when I get a better hang of it! :)

Welcome Ek, nice to have a member from Indonesia. Where in Indonesia are you ?
-
HI AND WELCOME
-
Welcome to the forum. I agree, I love Asian food and would love to see more recipes.
Unfortunately although I've had my thermie for nearly two years, I'm still a novice and converting recipes isn't my thing. I still need to look up the EDC to see how to sauté onion 😏

Hello and welcome to the forum.
-
Hi Ekisumo, welcome to the forum? I hope someone responds with a link to their blog and we look forward to your contributions once you get to know your machine better.
-
Welcome Ekusumo. I bought my A Taste of Asia cookbook from eBay and the Malaysian cookbook from True Mix (the thermomix distributor in Malaysia). Where did you buy your thermomix from? Are they sold in Indonesia?
It's true that there is a lack of food blogs for Asian food cooked in thermomix. I've searched for Malaysian food blogs, and they are not easy to find. You could try http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/ and search for Asian category.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I hope to participate and contribute whenever I can.
@achookwoman, I'm from jakarta :)
@chrissa we do become dependent on the recipes that way, don't we? Thankfully I've always been the "recipe follower" kind.

@beezeebee hi! I bought my recipe in my husband's hometown of Poland. It's cheaper buying there. But the downside is, all the yummy recipes in the cookbook are in Polish. So have to rely on my husband to translate for me. Thermomix is sold in Indonesia but its the most expensive I've been quoted so far. I think they're not even based locally.
I did write to malaysia's true mix to ask them about postage and other cookbooks they might have. Hopefully they come back to me soon.
And thanks for the welcome! Your photos make me drool!!

Hello and welcome Ekusumo. :)
How old is your boy?
On the Australian Thermomix website they have some cookbooks for other countries, I am unsure what they all are but it might be worth a look. www.thermomix.com.au (http://www.thermomix.com.au) then click on the cookbooks tab, think it is the last page. Not sure if that is of any help but ... :)

Hi astarra, my boy is 1 year and 1 month. I did try to write to thermomix.com.au to ask about postage but they didn't come back to me about it. I also wrote to Tenina's publisher and they said they would come back to me with it but they also didn't :'( (probably its so high that they thought I will never get it anyway! Haha)
I'm really hoping someone will come up with an ebook format!!

Hi Ekisumo, welcome to the forum :)

Welcome to the forum.
-
Hello and welcome.
-
Thanks everyone for the welcomes :)
Found a blogger who's cooking some great authentic Asian dishes in the thermie.
https://www.facebook.com/HermieTheThermie
I think she converts most of the recipe herself.

Hi Ekusomo
It's wonderful to have a member from Indonesia. I agree that there aren't a lot of Asian recipes in cookbooks but the suggestions beezeebe might help. PM me if you need more info re the Aussie version of the Asian cookbook. If you are stuck with conversions put the original recipe on the forum and we'll try to help
-
Thanks a lot Bonsai for your offer. You might find a PM coming your way soon because I just looked at the contents list and my eyes glazed over a bit! :p

Hi Ekusumo. Welcome to the forum.
Tenina has a dinner spinner app and an eBook . Check her web site. I am sure her publisher will send you a book and the postage should not be too much. Perhaps some one could take the book to Bali and post to you from there.

Hi Gert,
I bought the dinner spinner app. Would give that a try. Haven't bought the ebook but the dessert ebook sounds decadent! I wrote to her publisher again, hope he will reply next week.
Is someone popping by to bali? :)
Maybe we can have a meetup there :D

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Looks like you have managed to pick up a few ideas from here already - good luck with your Asian recipes but by the sounds of things it won't be long before you will be converting your own and sharing with all of us (we will look forward to that).

Welcome to the forum Ekusumo :)

Hi!
http://clevercook.net.au/
This is a link to an Australian blogger who has an ebook. There aren't too many Asian dishes but hopefully it migt help if you don't have anything else. Also Alyce Alexandra has an ebook too :)
Happy cooking!

Hello & welcome!
-
Thanks for the welcome everyone and thanks for the helpful tips! Will definitely check the ebooks out :)

Hi Ekusumo, thanks so much for your interest in my ebooks! I cant remember which thread we were discussing them in but thought easiest to respond here. Unfortunately i have spoken with my tech person and for some reason we are unable to sell our books in the Indonesian iTunes, I am really sorry, I did think they were available.
If you would like to purchase any of my books in hard copy I would be more than happy to have them shipped in Indonesia for you. I have looked up prices and it is about $35 for 1 book, but I would be happy to charge you $15 (AUD). If you would like to purchase more than 1, let me know and we can get the per book shipping price down. Please email orders@alycealexandracookbooks.com if you would like to proceed.
I also have some free recipes on my website if you would like to take a look at those, please visit http://www.alycealexandracookbooks.com/free-recipes and join as a member.
All the best with your thermomix, i hope you LOVE it!
Alyce :)

Hi Alyce, ta da!
Used my sister's US credit card to get into the American iBookstore and the ebook is now sitting prettily in my iPad :D and what is up with it not being available in Indonesian bookstore?! :(
Anyway, Im off to enjoy the cookbook! :)
-
You're very resourceful, E :)
-
What a great idea! So glad you got it working.
Enjoy!!
-
Beezeebee, I am forced to be resourceful because I'm desperate. Haha.. Thermomix cookbook addiction!!
-
Btw, if you're still reading this thread Alyce, I appreciate that you're willing to lower the price of your book for me. Thank you also for making it in an iBook format. I got both your books and they are very lovely. Can't wait to try them!
