Wake up and taste the tomatoes! Delish. Made more than 2 cups tho as I filled a 1 litre glass milk bottle, 250ml bottle, and about 1/2 cup bit left over. 5/5

CP you are really giving the book a workout. I'll have to have a look and mark some recipe's to try. I'm still finding it difficult to navigate because the type is too small to read.

I made this today. The flavour is really something. Like CP I found that it made more than 2 cups.

Made this today to go with the Vegetarian Pasties. My visitors raved about it and kept going back for more :) I didn't have roma tomato's but did have some every day ones that were in desperate need of use.

Made it last night

.....BUT I can't review it!
Wasn't until I was cleaning up that I noticed the apple cider vinegar I have, is double strength! :-)) it was written in tiny print!
Explains why the vinegar overpowered the sauce :-X and why we didn't like it.
Will make it again when toms are on special.

Not sure what you mean here Wonder, the print in the book is normal size for me (I do wear glasses though).
What rotten luck maddy, all those ingredients gone to waste. I wonder if you could make another batch and leave the vinegar out altogether then mix the two batches together?
-
Wonder was referring to reading it from her iPad mini
-
Oh, got it then, thanks CP :-* :-*

That's an excellent idea Judy :-*

Made this to go with our gourmet sausages tonight. Tastes fantastic!
I did not have Roma tomatoes so just used ordinary and I omitted the chilli because its for the kids as well. I also added 1 capsicum. Don't know how we are going to use all this sauce in 2 weeks though! Will definitely be making on regular occasions.

Freeze it snappy! I also add it to tomato based slow cooked stews, soups, pasta sauces and the like to add flavour without bothering to get all the ingredients out :)

Thanks Alyce. Now why didn't I think of that?

Hi. I hope this isn't too much of a blonde question. Is there any reason why this can't be stored & used like a regular homemade tomato sauce/ketchup recipe, that you would squeeze over your snags (aka sausages)?
-
It is a tomato sauce not a pasta sauce Burgerb so yes, squeeze away.
-
Thanks Judy. My usual homemade lasts longer than 2wks. Do you think will also? Both recipes have vinegar & sugar, I sterilise bottles, then keep in fridge once open.
-
It doesn't sound long does it? I'll compare it to the one I make when I get home to see if there is any reason it will only last 2 weeks.
Perhaps those who've made it can let us know if they've kept it longer.

Just finished my batch, yummy. Though it's quite orange colour. The tomatoes were fresh from garden, lovely red colouring, though not Roma. I added a total of 280g tomato paste, nearly double. I usually make the recipe from thermomix hd app, which has red capsicum in it & turns out "redder". I am really happy with flavour & texture, just not the colour. Next time I'm going to try jigging the two recipes together.
Any feedback if it keeps longer would be much appreciated. :) ;)

BurgerB I added a red capsicum to mine and it was a beautiful red.
I have kept my sauce in a sterilized glass jar in the fridge and 3 months later is still fine! It does last longer than two weeks.
Used mine as a dipping sauce for Arancini balls on Thursday night and was delish 😛😛😛

Blitzing the cooked onion is what makes a red sauce go orange.
Thanks for bumpking this. I miss so many great recipes because there are just so many posted every day now and my list continues to grown. Will get on to this one pronto though as it seems very popular. :D
