Title: south australian holiday
Post by: mrsb on September 04, 2013, 02:45:51 am
We are off to South Australia soon for our holiday.

I can hardly wait and have been thinking about my thermie. I wish I could take him, nothing worse than takeaways and restaurants for two weeks. It would be good to hire a thermie!

Any tips on what to see while we are there?

I'd be the worst person to know all the tourist spots mrs b but off the top of my head

Hahndorf
Barossa Valley
The pandas at the zoo
Monarto zoo
A trip to Kangaroo Island if you have time
Victor Harbour is a nice day trip
A River Murray Cruise, again if you have a couple of days to spare and are not on a budget

Pick up brochures from wherever you're staying or visit the tourist information centre 108 North Terrace, Adelaide opposite The Adelaide Convention Centre.

Maggie Beer's kitchen out from Nuriootpa is great too.
Haigh's chocolates, go on a tour.
The Adelaide Hills are beautiful, just driving round is lovely. Mt Lofty lookout.
Woodside lolly factory and Woodside cheese.
Beerenberg, just out of Hahndorf.
Hans Heysen gallery in Hahndorf.
If anyone is interested in cars, then the Birdwood Motor Museum.

I'll add more as I think of them. You will have a lovely time.

Are you only visiting Adelaide or other parts of South Australia?
Will you have kids with you?

McLaren Vale is a lovely place, with lots of wineries (as is the Barossa).
Semaphore and Glenelg are nice beachside suburbs.
The Central Market is well worth a visit.

Lots of great ideas there and many more here (http://www.trublutravelling.com.au/state/south-australia) if you explore the regions that you are travelling to in SA. Enjoy your holiday :)

Thank you for all your suggestions. Just about all of them were on the list. I'm very excited and can't wait to go. My husband has us driving all over so hopefully we can fit everything in. I have been on the South Australia website and ordered all the brochures. I have stickies all through them.
