What else would you buy, if you could. ;D
Just need some ideas, to see what else you use, besides the thermything.
Just thinking of buying me something, but not sure what.
I have a slow cooker, 5 in 1, 2 thermy's, pizza machine, ice cream machine.
any ideas, thanks..
-
I have a kitchenaid which I love. But want a sushezi next (for making sushi).
-
I have same as you ( only one TM :( ) but now looking at a dehydrator
-
Yes i have a kitchen aid too, in pink. :)
-
I have the sushezi - also good for biscuit dough rolling. 8)
Pasta rolling machine?? Handy for pasta and crackers.
-
was going to say pasta machine
and i love my sushezi thingy 2 ;D
-
I think I have enough at the moment. That will probably change when I go to the kitchenware store.
-
I definitely don't need anything else.
-
I'm thinking if I had that many appliances I would be saving my money for a new kitchen bench to store them all on!! ;) :D
-
Mostly use my slow cooker and TMX for meals. Could not live without my micro plane zester or spatulas. I don't really use too many other appliances (except for coffee machine) and I make all my cakes in the TMX so no need for a Kitchenaid.
BUT, if I had the room I would get a Soda stream. 😯 I drink a lot of plain soda water so would love to be able to make my own.
-
Oh yes. A soda steam maker is excellent value for money (especially if it is a gift like ours was). We don't use the flavorings, we mostly use it for fizzy water and the EDC lemonade :)
My coffee machine is a very close second fav appliance after thermie.
-
We love our soda stream for sparkling water. Only use homemade cordials like the berry cordial from the EDC or the passionfruit cordial from here :)
-
Gee, I don't need another thing - kitchen appliance or otherwise. :-))
My thoughts these days are what can I get rid of? :D
-
I'm like you Michele at the moment trying to get rid of stuff I've bought just because::)
I'm even contemplating getting rid of my pizza maker I've only used it twice because there are so many of us its easier to use the oven, back to basics for me so apart from the tm and my coffee machine there is nothing I want anymore so a lot is going. ......
-
Don't give me recommendations for a soda stream - I'm trying to avoid buying one!
-
Sounds like you've got just about everything Robyn. What about a tandoori oven?
-
I want a Heston Blumethal ;D ;D ;D
-
Oh Heston would be nice!
Do you have the ice cream and pasta attachments for your KA? I couldn't live with out it just for that and the aerating factor. As Tm is awesome but she can't make a pav like KA can.
-
We have a soda stream and hardly use it :-\
-
I have a soda stream too, and a pasta attachment for my Kitchen Aid.
KA is better for pavlovas.
I am thinking of maybe a Tandoori oven. I wonder if Hally still uses hers.
Wonder do you still use yours. :)
-
I'm a sucker for gadgets! I love my popcorn and waffle maker, my electric pasta machine, my yogurt maker from Aldi. I don't have a KA but not sure i could get it past my husband - perhaps an $800 pavlova maker would be a little hard to justify! I notice Obbie that you have a 5 in 1 and a slow cooker. Why don't you use the slow cooker function on your 5 in 1? I'm only interested because I don't either. Mine is pretty much a pressure cooker only!
-
I do use my slow cooker, and the slow cooker in my 5 in 1 too. :D
My slow cooker is Huge, great for when I have to feed heaps.
I have the popcorn maker, donut machine, pie machine too.
Astarra, my kitchen is huge, so plenty of bench space too. :D
I will think of something
-
I would like a KA. My mum bought one about a year ago and probably never uses it, so I'm hoping to inherit it when they downsize again. I would buy the pasta attachment for sure so that means I could get rid of my manual pasta machine. Only problem is it would have to live on the bench and I don't want any other machines on the bench besides TM cos I don't want to clutter up the kitchen.
-
Obbie, we still love the Tandoor but it does take time and for us only for a weekend. We knew when we bought it that it wouldn't be something that would get used all the time and was happy with the occassional use. I think over summer we will use it a little more than during winter.
-
an electric slicer ,i use mine a far bit and an electric bread knife
-
My long time wish has always been an ice cream maker, but methinks it will always remain a wish. ;D
-
Espresso machine and a proper burr grinder. It sounds like you have everything else ever invented!
-
electric slicer sounds good, i do have a electric knife, ( hardly use it) :)
Espresso machine, I can look at that too
-
i use my electric knife to slices bread on most days
-
We always slice our bread with an electric knife, it is so much easier.
Perhaps I would like a waffle maker. The only reason I don't have one is that I will eat too many of them and I don't need the temptation. :'(
-
Cookie you just reminded me of the waffle maker I inherited from my mother. It would be over 50years old and still works perfectly. Tried to upload photo but new operating system won't let me. Says forum has disabled attachment upload service, whatever that means
-
Well I off loaded my bread maker today. ;D I love that I can list all my kitchen appliances on one line. ;D
Microwave, kettle, toaster, nespresso coffee machine, vacuum sealer, slow cooker, pie maker, mini pie maker and of course TMX.
Apart from the mini pie maker and coffee machine I had all the other appliances before I bought the TMX. :-)) Which tells me I had no business buying any of the other things that I purchased. :-[
-
I do not need anything else for my kitchen, so I skipped through from page one to three on here so I would not read what everyone else has.
I'd have appliance envy. :-))
Although in saying that I did spend up big in Kmart yesterday and bought a new wooden spoon and a microplane zester grater thingy - all for $2 each. The last grater I looked at like it was over $50 in a kitchen store...at least at 2 bucks I'll get my money's worth even if I only use it a couple of times!
My hubby loves buying shiny things for his shed - even if he doesn't use them. ??? ??? He reckons it is good value when all the guys wander in there with a beer and some then say " phwoar, you've got one of those. Is it good mate?" "yeah, bloody ripper it is" and they all stand around have tool envy in a blokes shed.
We women don't have that now do we???? ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Having another go to post a photo ,see if this works. My old waffle iron(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/03/e7ajuhun.jpg)
-
Never seen one like that Marie, it looks like new.
-
looks great Marie just like the ones in the waffle shops ;D
-
I do have *: of course, and kenwood chef ( big mixer with slicer attachment for veg). I will be using the slow cooker for soap after the kitchen is finished as the Aga is a slow cooker.
-
Marie you will have to make some waffles. That looks really good.
-
That waffle maker looks so cool.
I've often thought about getting a waffle maker, but neither me or my DH really need the temptation to eat waffles.
I don't think I need anymore kitchen appliances, have way too many already!
-
You can borrow mine any time you like Katie, they freeze well so you could make a batch and reheat in the toaster.
-
Zoku for icypoles in summer. One of our best investments.
-
Cool looking waffle iron Marie. 8)
-
Thanks ladies, the waffle iron has had a lot of use and still works perfectly. We always had waffles as a treat once a week usually on a Sunday. :D Yes Cookie, will have to make some soon.
-
Zebra I looked at Zoku pop maker last week. do you think its any good. :)
-
I like mine. There are lots of attachments, the one I find the best is the storage one so that you can make fancy ones in advance.
-
We have the Zoku as well...and love it. I have the storage unit and can recommend it and also the tool kit which is great for me as I shake really badly and the little jugs make filling the holes a lot easier.
My recent purchase was a really discounted Jamie Oliver homecooker and cutting tower. They are $170 at Target and it was further discounted 20%....a big difference in price to the original one I bought which broke and was returned to Myer. I've been making a lot of jams, salsas, pasta sauces etc lately and wanted something that I could reduce them in faster than the TMX. (it also saves my TMX from the kids who have discovered what the kitchen is for).
I have a ridiculous number of appliances but they pretty much all get used...it is the pots/pans/serving platters etc that I have too many of and should cull....and don't even start me on coffee mugs but noone will let me get rid of any because they all belong to someone who can't possibly let it go. I'm hanging out for my kids to leave home so some of the stuff can leave with them....and then I will probably just end up with more stuff :(. I'm my own worst enemy at times but I have too many catalogs with cool stuff come across my desk from suppliers...and I'm weak..very weak :P I'm hanging out for my citrus peeler to arrive (as well as a few other toys)
-
I saw an imitation one in Kmart. Might go back to have another look.
-
I'm going to get that zoku storage thingo for the kids for Christmas too. I think we will use it. We use the zoku most days now it is getting warmer - for arvo tea.
-
Just thinking of buying me something, but not sure what.
....sounds like your kitchen is content then Robyn....maybe something nice for yourself instead ;)
Well, you asked....here's my thoughts :P
In my honest opinion, I think the kitchenaid is overrated....that is unless you will/do use the add on attachments.
I've had the circuit board already replaced, and any time I use it, the bolt connecting the top of the mixer head, works its way out....and I have to bang it back in with a hammer :-)) it's out of warranty & I really don't want to spend more money on it. I now reach for my hand mixer if I don't use the TM.
This is my dream mixer, so hopefully the KA dies a death soon!

The Swedish assistent mixer with 7 Lt. Bowl....it comes with double whisk, dough roller & cutter, and lots of accessories can be purchased
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/557cf23ff4a59c251861b779b7ebda88.jpg)
....and did I mention how retro cool it would look in my kitchen 8)
The silex commercial grill
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/33f04d48e93448235d9738afcee899b4.jpg)
....my Parents have one and don't use it :o....like many appliances they own!
I have told them, when they drop off the perch, I would like to inherit it....but my Brother wants it too, so dad said its going in the hole with him :P
And this if cupboard space magically expanded, I would add this
(http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt266/nachothecat/7f0c6b270f8cb10d40a7346397fa4f31.jpg)
The new extra large sized Phillips air fryer....it's capacity is 50% bigger than the original
.....better stop now ;)
-
OMG Maddy, I did not know those appliances existed. If only!
-
maddy, if your parents don't use that appliance perhaps you and DB could have an auction to determine who needs it the most. I'm with Marie, never knew such appliances existed but then I don't go looking either. It's going to be hard enough getting the Thermomix into the nursing home with me down the track let alone all these other appliances ;)
-
Maddy I am thinking of a air fryer, just which one to buy though.
-
I have many appliances & I love them all. I even have a Vitamix which I use as much as TMX.
I have a KA mixer that I'm thinking of selling because it's pink. Since buying it I've redone my kitchen & pink is no longer a good match :(
I also have the Silex grill which was great until I got my new oven - now I grill in my oven as it is so quick & easy, so I'll probably sell the Silex too.
One thing I know I really love is my Tefal Cook 4 me, as is really handy for quick meals after working all day.
I like the look of the larger Philips fryer too, but already have the small one, as well as the Tefal one.
But the one thing I know I don't like is a pressure cooker - I sold that already to justify getting the Cook4 me :)
Yes, I really do like lots of appliances & gadgets.
-
The Swedish assistant looks great Maddy. Pity I'm on the path to SOD (Simplify, Organise, Declutter) :-\
-
Maddy I am thinking of a air fryer, just which one to buy though.
I love my Acti-fry, if that is any help. ;)
-
I love the cook4me too as a recent appliance acquisition :) also just bought this http://www.importerdeals.com/ozrover-thermal-cooking-pot-set.html my sister loves hers.
-
Maddy you have a good eye for appliances. They all sound great. Which one will Robyn choose?
-
I love the look of the mixer Maddy, with all the cakes you make I'm sure you could justify it.
I keep thinking of the actifry but don't think we would use it that much, unless it woudl really give us a similar finish to the deep fryer.
-
I borrowed my mums actifry and wasn't overly impressed.
-
I borrowed my mums actifry and wasn't overly impressed.
I wasn't that impressed the first few times I used mine either, TBH. :-))
But now I have got the hang of it a bit better, I love it! :D
Tho I use it more as a small oven rather than a fryer.......... :-\
-
I now want one :(
-
I think I'll buy a actifry, not sure what else.
Just found a wallet to buy.
Everton has a sale, so a zoku pop maker too.
-
Will love to hear how you get on and what you do with it Obbie. :D
I even take the paddle out and use mine for things like pies, sausage rolls, croissants, cheese on toasts etc :) Crisps up pastry really nicely. :)
-
I would like both of those things obbie. Looking at the zoku pop maker. Do you only get 3 makers as maximum?
-
Maddy the mixer looks delicious.
Judy I'm taking my thermomix with me to the home. I can make money by supplying better food to people!
-
Seriously looking at the Phillips Airfry after watching it on TVSN this afternoon but it is a lot of money. I really didn't think there was anything else I could want. I think we would use it mainly for pastries, heating up pizza etc because we have a 900 wide oven which takes ages to heat up. I've never bought from TVSN, what do others think? Are their prices normally comparable with other stores?
-
I like tvsn bought my kitchen aid mixer from them years ago. Never had a problem with them.
I just bought the zoku pop makers. One for the kids of three and single ones x 3 for my friends kids for Christmas. I also got the recipe book. Wanted to buy the storage unit but all sold out.
-
Despite having the Thermie I'd buy a Hot Mix pro,(the really very expensive version that freezes as well, I cannot think what the model name is at the moment - if I had the money LOL) and although I love my big Kenwood Chef mixer I do wish now that I had spent the extra money and got the Kenwood Cooking Chef.
-
Judy I'm taking my thermomix with me to the home. I can make money by supplying better food to people!
Good idea Cookie but you have to be able to remember how to use it ;)
-
Yes that could be a concern Judy. They may not let me near sharp things by then either. :D :D :D
-
Cookie, you are always allowed to take an informed risk - whether your DD will let you near the TMX is another thing? ;D
-
Love TVSN! They have good products, & if there's ever a problem (rarely) they have fixed things promptly.
-
You get 6 sticks for the zoku
-

I have purchased many things from tvsn Wonder, and have had excellent service. They are the best place to purchase lock & lock in sets too. You can purchase most appliance or items on part payments, with just a one off $2 charge, and they send the item with first payment.
generally I purchase most electrical from the good guys, as they always price match or come under competitors offers.
google what your looking for & prices show up, or check out www.lasoo.com for catalogue specials everywhere.
-
There is so much temptation about, isn't there? It's hard to think with your head and not your heart, but I think the only other appliance I would want would be a vacuum sealer - I don't have too many appliances, just TMX, microwave, kitchen aid, juice extractor and pizza maker, I don't think I could justify anything else (unless I bribed DH with some new tools!).
-
LOL at bribing DH with tools Marina! :D :D
The only kitchen appliance I am hanging out for is a vacuum sealer too. :-\
-
Well I've decided to wait a while and see if I still want one. I was thinking it would be great for small things so I don't heat up the big oven but for the price it's a lot of heating up I could do. I'm so easily swayed by impulse buys but this time I'm going to make myself wait.
I would love it if someone tried Chookies KFC as a test though.
-
I would love it if someone tried Chookies KFC as a test though.
I have planned to try it tomorrow night actually, so will let you know how it goes. :)
-
I bought the pizza oven from TVSN, no hassles.
-
Astarra if it works really well i think i would prefer not to know ;D
-
LOL - OK ;D
-
how about a thermal pot obbie i used mine 3 times yesterday and once today
My DD 23 is hooked on TVSN never buys anything, and always comments on how ugly everthing is :-))
-
How does anyone sit through TVSN ... I always feel terribly guilty when I see all those toned and lovely bodies making all the exercise equipment look easy ... I cannot hang on long enough to see anything interesting.
-
I cannot handle the grating voices of the salesmen and women. The continuous drone without drawing breath.
-
I only watched it once in January, and bought the pizza machine.
Thermal pot, Uni I had not thought about that.. will look.
-
I was wondering the same thing about watching TVSN, shocking presenters and if I hadn't read reviews of the Airfryer I certainly wouldn't have considered it based on their demonstration. I could only sit through about 10 mins and we fast forwarded.
-
You watch tvsn? :p I buy online. Itvsn.com.au
-
P.s. what pizza oven?
-
Very interesting thread and ideas for new purchasers. I would really love a new dyson/kirby vac and a vac sealer. However, I'm also with McMich and more interested in de-cluttering at the moment.
-
I love the TVSN presenters especially Moira - I use to watch her when the kids were little advertising wool underlays. She still looks like a million bucks. ;D
-
The black one, its better than the red. I use mine every week. ;D ;D
lots of us bought them at the same time.
-
P.s. what pizza oven?
Newwave pizza maker. The black one. There is a thread on here somewhere. It's awesome and I use it regularly to make pizzas, tortillas and naan bread.
-

..... Not to mention the great frittatas....!!! :)
-
Oh I forgot them. Haven't made one for awhile. Thanks GF, that's what I'm having for lunch tomorrow now 😊
-
Well if nothing else you've contributed to my Christmas wish list lol. How unusual that it consists of kitchen appliances. Not!
-
Uni what sort of thermal cooker do you have..
-
I have the dreampot thermal cooker. I use quite regularly at home and use it to keep things warm or cold when we have parties. Good on picnics too.
-
I have the Thermos brand ( Shuttle Chef ) in the 4.5l with the inner pot. Use it way more at home than camping and would buy another tomorrow ! Worth every cent.
-
oh off to look at a thermal pot now..
-
i have this one
-

Me too ;D
-
what size do I buy, 3, 5, or 6 litre thermal cooker.
-
What do you think you will use if for Robyn?
-
I have the 6 litre. It isn't all that big - especially as you are a family of 4.
-
Well my mum is staying with me ATM and has finally seen the light hallelujah! Is going to buy a TM soon. When she announced this I just about fainted.
-
That's great news CP ;D What made her change her mind ;)
-
are you off the floor now CP... ;D ;D ;D
I'll get a 6 litre on i think.
-
I have the 6 litre Robyn. It is great as you can be cooking a main on the bottom and pudding or vegies on top.
Just be aware of the quality and gauge of the internal cooking pots - that's what ultimately persuaded me to go with the Dreampot. They have a good Youtube video. :)
-
Michelle, I am going to buy the dreampot on Monday... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
CP ......CP........are you there? Perhaps I'd better pop over with a bucket of cold water to throw over you. :D ;) ;) ;)
That's exciting news. I'm sure your Mum will love it.
-
Just ordered the 6 litre DreamPot
-
she is very stubborn and just kept saying "nup, nup, I'm too old to learn...its just for the two of us...no I don't want one blah blah" so I just let her go. She has been staying with me whilst dad is in hospital down the road and I've been making her different breakfasts and she just loves the eggs and spinach done in it. She even wants to take my cat home with her because she finds her a comfort (and this is a person who hates cats) Never say never :-))
-
CP I hope your Dad is ok. Take care of them both.
-
CP, hope you Dad is soon out of hospital. I am sure your Mum will love her new TM. ;D
-
Obviously Mums have to live with their daughters to know what they are missing out on CP - if she doesn't take your cat do you think she will get one for herself? Hope Dad is OK.
-
there is no way she's taking my cat!!!
my parents will be fine. its just old age catching up with them, and they were not prepared despite us "kids" trying to tell them otherwise about 5 years ago. they will need to make some adjustments now, but thats life :)
-
Sadly it is. I remember dropping Mum and Dad at Royal Perth hospital very early one morning for Mum to have a heart procedure done as day surgery. I looked in the rear vision mirror to check that they were going over the road ok and it suddenly hit me, they were two old people! I guess I hadn't given it much thought before then.
Despite hints and nagging CP my folks never really thought about old age much. They were happy as things were and that was fine. These country people. :-\ :-\
-
sounds like my parents next door.
-
Had to smile at the bit about parents, you are talking about US . We have always been very independent until this OS episode. We don't feel old. CP, my daughter has finally been convinced that she needs a TMX.
I have just caught up with this thread. Have most of the things mentioned except the Dream pot thingy. But what I find very useful is my ice machine. It cost $300 a few years ago, sits in bench in laundry and in the summer is used weekly. I use the ice in iced coffee to make a very low cal summer drink. It is a perfect companion to the TMX for making fruity dream desserts. I know many people have fridges with ice machines but this is a separate appliance.
-
Obbie, what will you use the dream pot for?
-
Wonder I might take it to work to make lunches. prep the night before, start the cooking when I get up.
Then take whatever in the dreampot to work, for lunches.
My DH hates buying take away for lunch. I have plenty of time at work. Will take my HMP to work next week too. I have plenty of kitchen bench space at work too.
-
got my dream pot
-
How exciting Robyn, what are you going yo use it for first?
-
Just need some ideas, to see what else you use, besides the thermything.
I'm big on versatility and generally limit myself to cooking appliances that can do multiple jobs. The TM does cooking + steaming + blendering. The rice cooker also does slow cooking. The breville oven I just added is expected to toast, bake, and reheat leftovers.
