Title: Fast thermy dinners!
Post by: fertilemertile on November 12, 2013, 04:18:39 am
Hi everyone!

I have started a new job which requires me to work 9 - 5 somedays and lately I have been slack and just getting take out as I just dont have time to cook when I get home but I am wanting to change that!

I have finally gotten around to doing a menu plan so I am wondering if people could share their fastest thermy dinners. I know options could be risotto but I was hoping there where some healthier options as I am trying to lose the buldge :-P

Look at CP's List of Favorites, or the all in one Varoma meals for help.

One of our favourites for midweek quick meal is the Creamy Tomato and Salami pasta from the EDC. I can have it on the table in around 35 mins. I cook the pasta in a pot on the stove while cooking the sauce (with reduced water) in the TMX.

With a bit of forward planning for the days you have to work FM, here's a few ideas.

Make these Chicken Kievs (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3879.0) up the night before or have them made and frozen and thaw them out during the day you are working, pop into the oven and steam some vegies in the Varoma whilst they are cooking.

Lamb sauce for pasta (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1092.0) is quick & a bit different to normal spag bol.

Chicken Chasseur (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5140.0) - make a vegie au gratin the night before and heat that in the oven whilst the chasseur is cooking.

Mince curry (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1017.0) - add more vegies to fill everyone up.  Have packets of cooked rice in the freezer so that one part of the meal is already done.

The delicious and easy Garlic, Oil & Chilli Pasta (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=376.0)- pick up a cooked chicken on the way home to go with it or throw some meat on the BBQ.

This quiche (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5690.0) - have it in the freezer for a quick meal.

Fruity Pork Curry (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=2485.0)

Honey & Soy Chicken (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6371.0)

Moroccan Sausages (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=6726.0) - cook the sausages the night before to speed things up

Chicken or Tuna a-la-King (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5544.0)

Moroccan Lamb (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1147.0)

Easy Carbonara (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3442.0) - great substitute for those packet pastas and you can add some vegies

Smoked Chicken & Avocado fettucine (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7696.0)

Dan's Shepherd Pie (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=1734.0) can be made the night before & just reheated

Quick Spanish Beef (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5391.0)

Chicken, tomato & feta patties (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7834.0) serve with a tossed green salad on a hot night

Chicken in Yoghurt (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=26.0)

Beef Teriyaki from Meat on the Menu, reviews here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4655.0)

Just a few ideas for you but the key to quick meals is to have a meal plan and do as much prep work as you can the day or night beforehand.  Make a jar of caramelised garlic paste, add that to recipes which call for a clove of garlic to be peeled (saves time dipping your spoon into the jar instead).

Great question FM
Some things here I haven't seen before either. Thanks Judy for that great list.
A few of my quick and easy favourites are
EDC Pasta with tuna with tweaks  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4315.0)
QFIT Salmon patties (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8613.0;topicseen) with salad or steamed veg
Another favourite here is a fried rice where the rice is started in the thermie and then finished in a wok with a pile of vegies.
