Hi
I know I have seen it here somewhere but can't find the recipe for the banana, macadamia and choc ice cream. They were the only ingredients. Obviously the banana was frozen. Will need to have a quick ice cream ready to make when TMX arrives to keep the kidlets happy!
TIA
Narelle

I reckon we should have a separate ice-cream section - Bron would be able to fill it up for us with Cookie1 being not too far behind. ;D ;D ;D
-
i am not an icecream fan but that sounds so goooooooooooooooooooodddddddddd!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I think an icecream forum is a splendid idea! Says me who is trying to get off dairy! LOL
But can anyone link me to the recipe?
-
haven't seen it on here. :-\

Dahhhh dah dahhhhhhh.... ILB flying in with her cape flapping behind her....
Try Page 113 of the vegetarian cookbook.
Incase youdon't have it:
80g salted and roased macadamia nuts **
80g carob* or chocolate buttons
4 bananas, peeled, quarted and frozen
Method
Place nuts into TM bowl and mill for 5 seconds on speed 8
Add carob or chocolate and mill for a further 5 seconds on speed 8
Add banana pieces and process for 30 seconds on speed 8
Serve immediately.
General Tips
* use carob instead of chocolate for a vegan option
** Use raw nuts for a raw option

Oh well done iLB - I must try that one too.

LOL you are the saviour of many things ILB :-* :-* - saved me running for my book to get the recipe. I actually knew where this one was as we were only talking about it today ;D
-
Is there no cream in the recipe?

heeheeheeheeheehee!!!

Is there no cream in the recipe?
Nope, no cream, exactly like it is. You have to make it, eat it and see it to believe it!!
-
I think I will have to make it again. I made it recently and we really didn't like it (DH said it needed some ice-cream in it). I didn't read the recipe properly though :-)) and used raw macadamia nuts, not roasted and salted. I think that would make a big difference.

Thanks for that. I have now realised where I saw it and no it wasn't here! Have looked at sooooooo many TMX recipes!

Thanks ladies!
Im yet to try it - bananas don't usually last that long here....
-
ILB, when i found them really cheap a few months ago i bought about 5kg and frozen them all in a big bag lol. i've been working my way through them slowly as i need to
-
A local supermarket here does bananas at 90c a kg on Monday am as thats when they get their next delivery. So I already have quite a few bananas frozen ready to go! YAY.

You are so organised Narelle. Only two more sleeps!!!!

That's a good idea Brazen!
Wow - that's good thinking Narelle!

I know!!! How exciting. I don't want to think about it though or I'll dream TMX all night! Stocked up at the Grain Grocer today, ready to go LOL
-
I always buy a few extra bananas when they are going cheap and freeze them as we do smoothies and #1 likes to eat slices of frozen banana too :) I have also blended frozen banana and coconut cream to make an 'instant icecream' too - I am sure all of those things will be quicker and easier in the TMX when I eventually get one ;)
-
I'm no professional photographer.. but here are some pics my 14yo took of his efforts..
This is just frozen banana, frozen pineapple and frozen blueberries. :)
-
Great effort :) I love it when the kids put the TM to great use ;D ;D 8) 8)
-
Good work Ceejay (and kids)
-
yummo Ceejay that looks great was the frozen pineapple tinned or fresh??
-
Fresh Meagan. I tend to slice them and just freeze them like that. ;)
Rarely use tinned fruit around here.
-
Yum I always have frozen banana slices in the freezer and will stock up on frozen mango during mango season this year too
-
ceejay, i've never made icecream or whizzed up fruit (i'm the only fruit eater in this house) so would you mind sharing exactly how you made that fruit icecream - it does sound good and i have a demo next weekend that i can't make the custard for. thanks! :)

Karen, I asked my 14yo (read yelled at him down the hallway LOL) how he does it and he responded that he throws frozen fruit in and whizzes for 30 sec on speed 8 or until smooth and creamy. :-))
No exact science I'm afraid! :P
-
Karen could you try the sorbet recipe using milk ice cubes. We did that with strawberries last night and it was fantastic.
-
brilliant, thanks ceejay :D
cookie, i might give my friend the choice :)
-
Cookie1, does it turn out sort of creamy? How does it freeze? That's the one thing I don't like about sorbets - they set as hard as a rock and the initial bowl full is never going to be eaten in one sitting unless you have a houseful.
