Hi all, just popped in to say g'day.
I got my thermie as a Christmas gift from me ex-husband (yes u read that right lol) I am completely in love with it and have been using it every chance I get. I've found that the recipes I've tried from the book that comes with the machine sometimes leave a bit to be desired but Google is an amazing thing and there are some incredible forums (ie this one) full of tried and true recipes. :)
Can't wait to have the confidence to whip up some original dishes of my own to share with you all!
Looking forward to getting to know u guys
:)

Welcome to the forum Lea. That's a very generous ex you have. :)
-
Hi Lea, welcome to the forum. Lucky you having such a generous ex, most unusual I must say. You are right, there are so many recipes out there from ordinary Mums and Dads all over the world - so many recipes we want to try and those with reviews are usually the best to go with.
-
Hi lea. It is the least he could do. Love for your Thermomix is everlasting. Husbands not so much.
My ex gave me a first class one way flight to Australia from NY nearly 50 years ago. Great gift. Least he could do.

It sounds like he wanted you as far away from him as possible Gert :D ;)

And I never heard from him again until two catholic priests arrived on my doorstep in Sydney wanting me to fill in a book to send to the Pope so my bisexual ex could get an annulment in Rome so that he could remarry in his church.
I would love to know what he is doing now. If I could remember his name I might look him on on Facebook.

Oh shoot Gert, just had to clean my cup of tea off my computer screen.
Are you serious??? Yep I bet you are.
sorry...you just really made me laugh out loud. I am sorry that your marriage didn't work out, although I can understand why, but at least he had the bal....er... gumption to give you a ticket out.
Think hard about his name and look him up! He's either going to be completely normal and wishing he never gave you that ticket.
Or not.... :o :o
-
Go Gert, keep those stories coming. Life is never boring on our forum LOL.
-
You are a scream Gert :D :D :D
-
A testament to how naive I was as a 19 year old virgin in the early sixties. There are probably not too many of those these days.
Gert
-
Nope probably not Gert!
Can imagine that you grew up pretty darned quick though!
Did you fill in the book with the catholic priests Gert? (just had to ask ;D )
-
OH yes. It was a big oversized thing and I just told a bunch of lies. No sweat off my nose. The two priests came several times and we all drank a lot of red wine.
I remember one of the priests was named Father Sobb now dead. The name was apt. Old soak he was.
It was a learning curve ok.

I wonder where that big ol' book is now Gert. can you imagine the stories (lies) it is filled with!!??
Ah yes and I can imagine the old fella's being a bit partial to the odd bucket glass of red.
-
Gert - you made me LOL! :D

Oh yes Nikkit on both points.
What I did not say before and to add insult to injury my first class ticket to Australia was a heavily discounted staff travel ticket which cost him about nothing!

Gert you made me laugh, Yes it would be true.
welcome Lea to the forum.

Love that story Gert. :) I don't think there is anything that the forum-mix family haven't been through.

Well with over 10,000 member here.......Damon Runyon eat your heart out.

You made me lol too Gert. Never a dull moment here. Love it.
Hi lea and welcome. There's lots of recipes here and lots of chit chat too.
-
Hi Lea and welcome.
Hilarious Gert!
-
Doesn't matter Gert - you got out alive, and in first class!
Lea - we do get a little side tracked on the odd occasion, but never mind...always a laugh to be had in here ;D
-
Too right Nikkit we get sidetracked but then not everyone visits every thread and we are all such friends that we don't mind if someone highjacks our thread now and then. You definitely need a sense of humour, open mind and realise this is not only a thermo lovers forum but is about food and support not only in cooking but in the everyday humdrum things of life.
We are a community or family of sorts, all sorts really. We sometimes disagree but we appreciate and respect each other. No nastiness here. Sometimes we push the limits with the moderators but hey that is their job eh. ROFLMAO!
Occasionally we get the odd bod wanting to criticise or stir up trouble but they are soon put in their place and are on their way.
It is a fun place to be.

I loved your story Gert.
Isn't that what we are paid for? Oh! It's a love job isn't it? We enjoy ourselves too, believe me.
-
Lmao Gert! What a story!
-
What was it that Forrest Gump said ...
"life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get next" (or something along those lines - it has been a while since I watched the movie!)
Bit like this forum, you never know what you are going to read next.
Hence I keep a box of tissues close handy for those times when someone (GERT!) makes me spit out my cuppa all over the screen!
;D
-
Welcome to the forum Lea.
Well Gert, what can I say - just love your stories!!!!
-
I am waiting for Nikkit's next as I am assembling a dossier for her kids!
