Title: Nut allergies
Post by: Tasty on January 20, 2014, 05:34:32 am
Both my daughters seem to have nut allergies to tree nuts (walnuts, cashews, etc). Fortunately they are mild (no breathing difficulies) however they do get a rash all over (over a period of about 2 hours) and they take antihistamines to clear it up.

I wanted to know if anyone has had any success with outgrowing them and how they went about doing it?

Unfortunately, cannot answer your question ... all I know is that my DH grew into his nut allergy in his mid 50s!

Our GD grew out of her egg  allergy when she was 6.  i think you may need professional advice on this.

Chookie - my daughter had a mild egg allergy getting rashes every time she had egg when she was younger but has outgrown it now that she is 2. Apparently it's easier to outgrow egg, milk and shellfish allergies but harder to outgrow nut allergies.

I have a great nephew who is allergic to dairy products. Anaphylactic type allergic. He is now 8 or so and I believe slowly growing out of it. Very slowly though. Sorry I can't help you Tasty.

Hi there, I haven't posted on here for a long time but this is something I have experienced.  My son was anaphylactic to all nuts and shellfish and mildly allergic to egg.  This year at 12 yrs old he has outgrown shellfish and tree nuts but not peanuts.  There is nothing you can do to make it happen.  We avoided these foods and only found out through allergy testing by a dr (allergist) they had gone.  Dr has told his to keep tree nuts and shellfish in his diet weekly to keep the allergy away.

It's great Cera that there's a test that can be done so that you know DS is over the allergy.  I hope he enjoyed his first feed of shellfish & tree nuts.

Great to hear Cera and I'm glad your son can now eat these foods. Is there anything you changed in the way you eat or did you include priobiotics or change anything that may have helped?
