This is an interesting read

Very interesting. I was just at the grocery store yesterday pondering whether I should try coconut sugar. Given my high reliance on everything else coconut (milk, cream, oil) I think I'll leave it alone!

Good read Jess. :)

That's interesting DJ. I think I will Google some more and see if I can find more information.

Great article.
It amazes me that there are so many different sugars out there and some being apparently 'good' for diabetes. I believe (in my humble opinion...) sugar is sugar is sugar and if it has a funny name - like xylitol (sp?) then it just ain't sugar!
I'll get off my soap box now before I start ranting :o

I noticed coconut sugar has appeared in our supermarket too -very interesting to read more about it.

I'm with you Nekkit. It's still sugar.
Olive oil may be a healthier choice, but not if you use far too much. Too many people overcompensate with the excuses.
Everything in moderation for me. Keep it clean, and if you splurge, enjoy it.

I like your thinking MrsG ;D

I haven't read the article yet but can comment on Xylitol. It's a sugar alcohol that isn't metabolized by bacteria and so can't cause tooth decay.

Interesting Theresa.
I read yesterday that it kills dogs (and cats too I think) heard of a lady "sharing" her cup of tea with her dog and he ended up very sick. The vet said he'd not been able to save many pets due to this sweetener.
I think I'll stay clear of it.

Chocolate is also deadly poison to dogs, and I'm not staying away from that! Just keeping my pup away.
-
I'm with you on that one too Laura!
I know there are a lot of things that are no good for dogs - like grapes - and my dogs LOVE grapes! They get one or two every now and then.
And horses...my spotty horse loves silverside and salad rolls! especially after we've worked cattle. I think he gets some weird pleasure out of eating what he just played with!! :o
Sorry - off track from the sugar article. I think I'll stick with plain old raw sugar.
