Title: A foodie haven - Penang :)
Post by: BeezeeBee on February 27, 2014, 04:08:50 am
From a backpacker's point of view: http://champagneandbackpacks.com/category/asia/malaysia/penang/

Just saw this on Facebook. If you're ever holidaying in Malaysia, go check out my hometown of Penang :)

You don't have to do it cheap like these guys. There are beautiful resorts too :D

I remember many many years ago going to the first and probably the only revolving restaurant. Sorry we did that but it was a kids request. Not very high up at all.

We stayed in the Eastern and Oriental Hotel, which was old, grand and still is. It was my first encounter with huge geckos.

We ate on the streets and the food was fantastic and still is.

Gert, I've been to that restaurant too. Was such a novelty in those days. Food not that great though.

E&O is a splendid hotel, with a long sense of history.

My school was in that part of Georgetown. The oldest convent in the region. There was even a well that dated back to Sir Francis Light's time, located within the school compound. And lots of ghost stories :)
