Title: Quick & easy rolled oat slice
Post by: judydawn on May 25, 2014, 02:56:37 am
This is converted from Merle's Kitchen cookbook.

190g oats
75g brown sugar
50g coconut
150g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
150g butter, melted
2 tbsp honey

Preheat oven to 180oC and grease & line a 28cm x 18cm slice tin with baking paper with 5cm excess paper hanging over the long sides.

Place oats, brown sugar, coconut, plain flour and baking powder into TM bowl.
Melt the butter in the microwave (70% power 2 minutes 1300W oven) then add the honey.  Stir to incorporate.
Add this mixture to the TM bowl and mix on dough setting  :: for 20 seconds.

Press the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 20 minutes until lightly golden.

Cool in the tin then place on a wire rack (remove the baking paper) to cool completely before cutting into slices.  It will be crumbly to cut if you try to cut it too soon.

Judy,   This is really funny.  I made a baked oat slice this morning.  It is like a Birsher Museli,  only baked.  Added lots of nuts and dried fruit.  Not sweet at all.  It is supposed to be reheated for breakfast,  served with yoghurt and fruit.

I love merle's books too. Mum makes the opera house slice and we all devour it. It's our favourite. Looking forward to trying this slice Judy. Thanks.
