Title: Secondhand tmx cookbooks?
Post by: Ayla on August 17, 2009, 08:57:26 am
Anyone got any they don't want anymore? I only have the one it came with and I wouldn't mind checking out Cyndi's one, the kids one, and the vego one.

There are plenty of links in the forum giving the index of some of the other cook books and then the recipes are posted when requested - there are so many recipes on the site that have also been tweaked and tested I don't think it is necessary to buy another book! I would just like the newer corrected version of the ECB.

Hi Ayla,
I just have older versions of the EDC I'm afraid - probably now 2 editions old  >:(

It would be hard to find secondhand books - maybe just ask for ideas.

I would love to have a full index of ALLLLLLL the available recipes for TMX here (or somewhere)

TMX Australia is not keen to give us the names (let alone the recipe) for what they receive with the competition.

I think that it would be beneficial to know what is available - then we could request, and if there is nothing we can invent.  BUT I HATE spending time dong something that somebody has already done.  >:( >:( >:(

Wonder how much it would cost me to have all the recipes on here published in a book with pretty pictures?

Anyone interested in buying a copy??  ;) ;D ;D ;D

I did have the idea a while ago - about the time you were taliking about somebody shutting the site down - of downloading all the recipes into a formatted word document with a linked index. I made a start but have not done much lately. I thought that once I had it done it could be accessible as a link, and could be downloaded as a word document so that each user could edit recipes to suit themselves. I am happy to do this given a bit of time. I would just need to work out a method of knowing which recipes were added to the book over time - perhaps including the date posted. Any suggestions would be welcome. Also photos of the recipes would be good as people make them!

One book would sure beat all those pieces of printed paper-but then in no time I would have heaps more printed! :-\

OMG - I can hear the trees out the front squealing in pain - never mind, it would all be in a good cause.

I probably have more recipes books then anybody (except maybe faffa and Amanda in Adelaide) - so nobody else should feel guilty.

I love recipe books - especially with pics.

I have about 13 Thermomix books - because I bought the old Italian TM21 books.  SO I am probably the baddest  :-[ :-[ :-[

Recipe books are great when you want to do some menu planning in bed and don't have a laptop (I hope other people do this too).
I would buy one!

I used to - but bought a laptop - much to MrsT's disgust - I spend more time communicating with it in bed then MrsT.

Still - it stops me using the remote and channel surfing  :-)) :-)) :-))

If you went to the trouble of having a book printed Thermomixer, I would buy one as a show of my appreciation for your efforts (as long as it wasn't one of those spiral binder ones).  I also like pretty pictures but it is more important to me that the recipe is correct and works.

I can't believe Mrs T lets you go to bed with your laptop ??? ??? ??? i.e. presuming she is in there with you at the same time.

You may need to bring the laptop to bed more often - you can put me on your cookbook pre-order list too TMXR - but I do love the spiral bound books... ;D ;D ;D

I'd like to request that we have non stick pages to show off the pretty pictures.  That is pages that don't stick to the granite bench top when there is moisture on it.  I have wrecked 2 EDC's in the past 15 months - keep peeling them off & realise another recipe has bitten the dust.  Thank goodness for this site.

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one!  I have done this twice  :-[ and I've only had mine for a few weeks!  Maybe we should put this in the tips setion? - keep the book open so that the hard back and front overs are on the bench (don't fold it over).

Yes - thanks for reminding me brazen - I have a heavy wooden one, but I might have to get a little plastic one especially for my TM that I Can keep next to it.  (Does that mean I'm now buying presents for my TM?! :-)))

I need a recipe book holder!  I've also wrecked a couple of pages of my EDC already doing the stuck-to-the-benchtop thing. :(

I have the Everyday Cookbook, The Cyndi O'Meara one, the Vegetarian one, the Varoma one and a folder of printed recipes. I'm getting the Budget Busters, Raw and Lunchbox cookbooks soon...  Then I'll slow down! ;)  I used the Varoma the least, the EDC and printed recipes the most and the Cyndi and Veg ones often enough!

I'd buy your cookbook Mr T.

I bought a beautiful brass one that is large enough to hold all of my tmx cookbooks.  My forum file is too big to fit on it now so I just take out the recipes for that week (in their plastic sleeves) and put them on the stand with the cookbooks.   :)

Hi, Mama_Bel!

Where can I order a raw "cookery" book for the TMX? Sounds interesting!

vivacity, you could order from any of the demonstrators on here (mama bel is one too ;)), i guess the ones who have paypal or some other way to get an international payment, and are willing to send internationally ;)

Thanks, Karen, I'll ask one of the demonstrators here to find out how high the postage costs are from Australia to Germany. Would you recommend the cookery book?

Brazen, I'm not a demonstrator.  I only do demos for my kids, LOL.  Jo is my demonstrator and she's ordered the raw book for me. :)

I'm so paranoid about damaging my thermomix cookbook, I've actually scanned it into the computer so that I can just bring the pages I need up on my iphone or my netbook which are usually sitting somewhere around in my kitchen (can you say MAJOR techno geek).  It also means that I can print off the individual pages I want and dump them in the bin once I have managed to decorate them with butter, egg or whatever else I manage to flick on them.  I also love having my book that I can refer to it wherever I am.  I wish that they would produce ebooks of the other recipe books that are available.  I would jump at the chance of being able to buy them in electronic format.  I very rarely buy a paper book now...most of my purchases are electronic.

Take care
Stacey

it's funny, cause i am SO internet addicted, but HATE reading online! my friend has sent me the link to some online fan fiction and it so doesn't appeal having to read onthe computer.

I'm with you about reading on the computer but I cannot survive without my ebooks.  I have been using a variety of palm pilots, ppcs and now my iphone through the years to read on.  I'm an insomniac and tend to read for two or three hours every night.  The only thing that has probably saved me from being killed by my husband is the fact I don't need to turn the light on to read when I'm using an ebook reader.  I love having the ability to carry hundreds of books with me all the time and being able to purchase new ones instantly.  Unfortunately I have also converted my two kids who both read books on their hp ipaqs that we bought for that express reason.  We are really big readers in our house and at least it saves bookcase space.....also great when you are travelling...not so much to pack and the kids get new books downloaded on the run.  I think they would prefer to lose their gameboys than their readers.

Have a great day
Stacey
...who is tucked in bed down the Gold Coast with a cup of tea and Terry Pratchett's Witches Abroad sitting next to her on the iphone. :P
ps. I'm happy to explain how to read electronically if anyone needs help :D
pps. I'd offer the tmx cookbook scan to anyone who wants it but I think it would breach copyright.

Its the older version I'm sorry.....only got my thermomix in July but it has been shipped with the old book.  I've also scanned in the magnetic guide that you get with it.  I'm gradually going through all my miscellaneous piles of things that I've ripped out of magazines over the years and either converting recipes to electronic format or converting quilt patterns etc to pdf's.  I've started drowning in paperwork and decided that it is easier to find stuff when all I have to do is do an electronic search for a word or flick through a slideshow of pdfs.

If anyone is interested in checking out reading ebooks on phones, pdas etc....I can thoroughly recommend mobipocket.  It is an application that has been ported to quite a few platforms including windows ce, palm, symbian phones and blackberry's.  I have used it for many years before I changed to an iphone in February.

More on topic, I used to use a recipe management program on my windows ce phone called pdacookbook to manage my recipes.  Very handy for checking on recipe ingredients when standing in the middle of Coles.  I now use an app called HandyCookBook.  Costs a whole $1.99 on itunes.

Is anyone willing to part with Cyndi's book?! I emailed my old consultant last week saying I will definitely like to purchase it but I haven't heard back from her. Are there any consultants here that would sell me a new one?
