I have made this cake a few times now and we have always enjoyed it.

1ts baking soda
½ ts baking powder
½ ts salt
½ ts cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts (180g)
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line a 5 x 9inch loaf tin.
2. Pour boiling water over cranberries in .
3. Add butter and stir 2 mins. speed 1.5 or until butter is melted.
4. Add honey, brown sugar, egg, vanilla and sourdough starter and stir 1.5 mins. speed 2.

It sounds interesting Troupie, will have to put this one on my list to do.
-
I really have to get organised and get some sourdough going. This is certainly one to try thanks troupie :)
-
It sounds tasty Troupie. Does the boiling water cool done a lot before you put the starter in?
-
I never thought of that but I didn't pour the water on while it was still bubbling away. The original recipe didn't mention it either so I suppose the time I was fiddling around getting dish greased and other ingredients out was enough to cool it down a bit. Hope that helps.
-
Thanks. I really love the sound of it. I'm not sure if I will have time to make it before I go to Tasmania. If I don't it will be on top of my list for when I get home.
-
Looks good Troupie. Will make, thanks.
-
I'm feeding up my starter to make this tomorrow.
-
I made this today. My starter was quite runny so I put less boiling water. It was still quite a liquids consistency, not like a bread at all. However, I had a slice this afternoon and it tastes lovely. Thanks troupie.

Yummy Cookie.
When life settles down I am going to come your way and beg steal or pay for some more starter.
-
I will happily share some with you. ;D
-
A very inviting looking loaf cookie, must put it ln my to do list.
-
Yes it does look just like mine; hope you are happy with the result. We put some butter on it. I hope I haven't killed my starter as have had a cold (just the cough bit) and not looking after anything.
-
This recipe has inspired me to make a sourdough starter again. Hope it works.
-
Jeninwa I can give you some starter if you like. Just give me a few days to boost it up before you want it.
Thanks Troupie. We really like it.
-
Gosh this looks yummy will have to put this on my list. I wonder if I can make without sourdough starter if not will have to get some started
-
Thanks cookie I made my starter yesterday fingers crossed it works.
-
I'll cross my fingers for you too. ;D ;D
-
Thanks cookie it worked, after two days I bought it inside as it was bubbling away, gave it a feed, here it is this morning before I transferred it to a bowl, it had out grown the large jar I had it in. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/01/46283e82ae87ffda02d089f031879284.jpg)
How long do you think I should keep feeding it before it's ready to use.
-
I think after 7 days you can use your sourdough starter
-
I don't know when it can be used. You are very clever. It looks great.
Jeninwa have a read of the very first page of Chookie's All About Sourdough. That will tell you.
-
I have read chookie's page on sourdough, think this warm weather might be why it's so active I'll feed it for a few more days before I make some bread.
