How are you with food trivia?? Do you have any interesting tidbits to fill the recesses of our brains with useless information that may never be used? Expecting Thermomixer to have lots! ;)
Here's a start:
Why are sausages called bangers?
The name goes back to early 1900's. Sausage skins were made from sheep's intestine, so retained a bit of water. If you didn't prick the skin with a fork before frying, they would explode with a bang!
Where does natural vanilla flavouring come from? -
Orchids
OK, so most of ya knew that - what else ya got??? ;)

Apparently when bananas get their brown spots it means that the enzyme to digest them is present. Apparently we don't have this enzyme in our bodies.

Thermomixer you need to print out ILB information and put it in a PROMINENT place lol ;D ;D ;D
Funny how I always feel unwell eating a banana that is still slightly green...now I know why :)

LOL - just had a discussion with the staff today - I am still the only one who will go near them when they get A SINGLE brown spot on them. Almost makes some of them gag to see me peeling one with a hint of brown :-)) :-))

There is a guy at work that does the same :-)) (throw them out that is)
