Title: Recipe Review: Fruity Pear Mince Baby Croissant
Post by: cookie1 on December 20, 2009, 08:30:33 am
Fruity Pear Mince Baby Croissant
Festive Book
Tweaking
I only made a half mix of this.  I also used my own fruit mince for the recipe. For the half mixture I rolled out two pizza size circles and cut each into 8, as evenly as I could. I used a pizza cutter and it sliced through the dough nicely. I didn't use bread flour, only plain flour as in the recipe and I used 1 teaspoon yeast for a half mix.

I loved these, in fact I would say I prefer them to fruit mince pies. (I made my pies with the same fruit mince and almond pastry)
The dough was easy to work with, even though it was very hot. I didn't ice mine or even put icing sugar on them. They were not overly sweet.  I got  16 out of half the recipe.

Flavour 5/5
Recipe 4.5/5

Thanks cookie. I'd seen the recipe but really just skipped past it. Might try it though.

I used the Festive Flavour pear mince and Jude Blereau's rugelach dough to make these.

I loathe fruit mince but I love the fruity pear mince, I only made it on suggestion of the reviews in the mince tarts section and I am so glad I did! 😊😊

These are just perfect for morning or afternoon tea with a nice cuppa.

I have my fruit mince on at the moment Snappy. I make my recipe. It is Nan's Fruit mince on here. It has no fat and cider. Keeps for an eternity if we don't eat it with icecream.

I'm keen to try these out for breakfast on christmas morning.  Has anyone made them in advance and frozen them uncooked? I know I won't have time to make them from scratch on christmas morning amidst the present opening frenzy but thought I could put them straight from the freezer into the oven.

I'm sure that would work rostess but you could also make them the day before and just reheat in the morning as well.
