Post by: gertbysea on January 22, 2010, 07:15:13 am
Has anyone seen this fantastic recipe by Helene? She even makes a second meal out of leftovers. Clever girl.

This may be by new Sunday Night Supper instead of pizza.

Looks very tasty - I will have to give it a go.  I've never bought V8 juice but I guess a basic TMX vegie juice with lots of water would be a good substitute.  :)

I am going to try it with Hot and Spicy V8 and chillies. Anchovies as well of course!

Obviously you guys got to see the video Ok - my computer buffers dreadfully when I try to view them and the stop, start action means it takes for ever for me to see a 2 minute video so I usually give up on it.

Hey THANK YOU GRETCHEN for mentioning the Pizza Risotto here!

I've been so busy lately I haven't time to visit this forum and I miss you all so much  :'( :-* :'(  :-[

Spicy V8 and chillies sounds like a great idea! I want to hear how it tastes!  The only reason I used V8 is because I was in a hurry to use up what was on hand in the fridge there was a can of V8 juice in the basement so I just went wit it... The basement is where I keep all the extra less-used canned goods that don't fit into my miniscule kitchen.

Judydawn... I am so sorry to hear that slideos are impossible to watch  :(. You are making me reconsider things... Hmmmm.. mmmm...maybe I should post still photos as well, for those recipes that are slideos? :)

I think next thing I will try is the addition of Mascarpone in the Risotto. I read somewhere that people do this and I can't imagine it's anything but divine.

Nice to visit with you all again. I am hoping to drop by more often now that xmas is over. Please keep a seat at the table for me  ;)

 :-* :-* :-*

Judy I just wlk away and let it do it's thing then when it is finished if you click play it will run right through without stopping.

By the way my failed butter became the best ice cream overnight.

I now have to get the the store to get the ingredients to try out Helene's mascarpone.

Made this last night with hot and spicy V8 juice and also added a spoonfull of chicken stock paste.  My brand of arborio probably needed a little less cooking than 18 minutes, so woud reduce that next time, but were the flavours were great and will definitely make again.  Thanks Helene ;D

Oh BTW I added sliced quatered sliced salami towards the end, rather than grinding it up.  We liked that texture.

I'm going to give this a go, but I'm not a big fan of pizza with salami, etc, so I'm going to make a Hawaiian version. I'll change the salami for bacon or maybe ham, but I don't know how the ham will go, and I like the taste bacon adds to a risotto, and change the pepper for pineapple. I don't know when I'll get around to making it, but I think it'll be nice... :-S

Can you give the basic instructions in how to bake it inside rolls, faffa? That sounds really nice.

Love this one! Even the kids who "hate risotto" devoured their servings and went back for more.  :)
