Well, we had an interesting Sunday night. I had my Show as I went to bed, and a couple of contractions during the night, but then all became quiet again. Hopefully Bimbette isn't going to overturn all our plans for Friday after I've carefully arranged every detail (babies can be so inconsiderate :D ), but we're now on the alert just in case.
3 more sleeps ....
-
Oooh Caroline how exciting. I do hope you can keep your legs crossed long enough (that's how you do it isn't it? ;D ;D) to last until Friday but, if not, then very best wishes and the best of luck for whenever it is.
Hope you get all the love and support you will need. Heaps of virtual hugs from the Forum anyway ;) ;)
-
All the best for your birth CarolineW :-*
-
Hold on Caroline! These babies have a mind of their own but we send our best wishes and hope everything goes to plan. :-* :-*

All the best Caroline. I was thinking about you today. Hope all goes well (and to plan). At the end of the day the only thing that matters is a healthy baby. :-* :-*

:D :D :D You sound like my Mum, Cookie! She said if the baby came today it would be a sign that we were to join the rest of the family in Ausssie . She never misses an opportunity to try to get us to move :D ;)
Thanks everyone. And yes, I think that leg crossing is the accepted method ;)

Thanks so much, everyone. It was lovely to log on and read your good wishes.
Sorry we've been out of touch! We had a difficult initial time after coming home - I had an allergic reaction to the c-section wound dressing which went septic, and also got mastitis. So although nursing got off to a flying start, poor Hannah began to become dehydrated when I got ill and ended up having to be on the bottle. Never mind, the important thing is that she's thriving, and we're having a go to see if we can go back to nursing.
A week of antibiotics later I feel human again, and am thoroughly enjoying Hannah. She's beautiful and growing quickly - she's already grown out of one set of clothes! Esther loves being a big sister, and rushes in from school to hold her and have a cuddle. She also likes to help change the nappies and give feeds. Mercifully she has never been disturbed by Hannah's (very loud) middle of the night bouts of colic.
I am thoroughly enjoying having a newborn around again, despite the disturbed sleep - as is DH.
Last week we lived on freezer food, but this week (now that it's less traumatic) DH has made a menu plan based on your recommendations to him, and is cooking. Last night was a chicken dish with mashed potato and steamed veg (sorry, don't know the name of it, but I know it was one of your recipes). Tonight he's making meat balls with tomato sauce and garlic rice.
Apart from a couple of photos taken in the hospital, we've only just started to take photos, and they aren't on my computer yet. But as soon as they are I'll upload some for you (or try, anyway :-)) )
Meanwhile, from our topsy turvy, but very happy household :-* :-* :-*
-
I was wondering about you the other day Caroline, I must have missed your announcement :-)) Welcome Hannah.
So sorry to hear you have had a rocky start - Mastitis is just awful, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!! Hoping the breast feeding can get back on track for you and that you are getting some rest when you can.
-
Welcome back. We missed you. Glad to hear all is fine. Best wishes to all the family

Welcome back Caroline. I have bee wondering how you have been going.
Glad to hear everything is now getting back on track and that DH is cooking up a storm ;)
So happy to hear that Hannah is thriving, Esther is loving having a sister and you're well again! Look after yourself! :-* :-*
-
Thank you for your update - was hoping nothing awful was happening because we hadn't heard from you. To keep your spirits up after such a rocky start will be helped with good nutritions food. Hope you have a large network of family and friends to look after you and keep an eye out for you. Make sure you grab sleep every time she goes down and don't try to do too much - Thinking of you! ;)
-
Hi Caroline & family - glad to finally hear from you and learn that things have finally settled down, DH is cooking up a storm and big sister Esther is loving little Hannah. With the worst out of the way now you can relax and enjoy your little bundle of joy. Can't wait to see the photos. :-* :-*
-
Gosh you have had a difficult time. Here's hoping for some smooth sailing now with your two beautiful girls!!! :)
-
Caroline, what a good supportive DH you have. Enjoy all of your family. :) :) :)
-
Lovely to hear from you Caroline and of your 'adventures'. I'm glad things are running a liitle smoother for you now and hope they continue to do so. :-*
-
Caroline, I appear to be another who has missed your announcement.
Congratulations to you all and I hope that you have managed to get the feeding back on track - it is so very much easier when you can take bottles out of the equation!
Looking forward to a snap of Hannah!
-
Well, the meatballs in tomato sauce with garlic rice were delicious. A big thumbs up from us all - so thanks for both the recommendation and the recipe.
I've discovered something this week - perhaps I should post it under the tips section ;) Sitting on a chair juggling a baby, milk bottle, phone and laptop DOESN'T WORK!! The laptop is now in for repair, and expected back in 1-2 weeks. So I'm laptopless (sniff). At least I get the occasional look-in on this computer, so I'm not 100% internet deprived.
There has been some (but not much) progress on the breastfeeding, so we haven't given up yet. Meanwhile she's still getting most of her food from the bottle. Hannah is putting on weight and growing well, and continues to be a complete delight. I'm slightly nervous about next week, as DH will be back at work (today is his last day of paternity leave), but I'm now able to do everything involved with caring for Hannah, and that's the most important thing. I'm sure everything else will just sort itself out, and anyway, I'm able to do a bit more every day.
I'm really looking forward to when I can cook properly again, and try out some of these lovely recipes which have been posted.
Until I get on the computer again - take care all.
-
Hugs to you all Caroline :)
I am not sure if you have access to a lactation consultant or a breast feeding association but I would highly recommend both for any issues with breast feeding. I have found them invaluable in my bfing journey with my two.
Enjoy the last few days with your DH home and go easy on yourself.
-
All the best CarolineW. Hope the baby/boobs/food/computer all get sorted.
Good to hear Mr Caroline is going OK. How's Kaila ?
-
Caroline W , look after your self and don't try to do too much.
-
All the best Caroline. If breast feeding doesn't work out it is far from the end of the world. I'm thinking of you.
-
At least you will be very prepared for the allergy this time Caroline. So happy to hear all is going well. :)

You make me laugh, TMXer :D
My laptop and I are happily reunited, Hannah is doing well despite an allergy to cows milk. Hopefully the Dr is going to prescribe a formula that works for her on Monday.
Kaila is also doing well. We've been able to take her to the vet now, and he said that it was just that she'd run herself down while she was on heat, and that it was normal.
-
Good to hear that everything is progressing well Caroline. Let's hope the dr. can sort out Hannah's milk allergy sharpish.
I had wondered who Kaila was when Thermomixer enquired - all is clear now and I should have guessed she may not necessarily have been in human form given Thermomixer's interest ;D
