Title: my DH and rice!
Post by: baf65 on February 02, 2010, 01:37:34 pm
okay so i have had my tM for over a year, we have rice at least twice a week, my DH always sees me serve it from the basket

Tonight I said if you need more rice for lunch just cook a bit extra up, put it on speed 4, 100C for 12mins

He comes out when it beeps, and says....hmmm are you sure it was 12mins it looks a bit overcooked to me

What had he done...put the rice in the TM not the basket...so it was all chopped up!!!!

Obviously its all just gone over his head!!!! I am not expecting him to cook dinner for me any time soon!

Look on the bright side.  Now you have the basis for an excellent rice pudding!

I do this deliberately using coconut milk instead of water - and as much or as little sweetening and/or spices as you like - lovely stuff.

BE GRATEFUL - MrsT STILL hasn't touched my Bimby and would have no idea how to cook even water in it  >:( >:( >:(

Don't give up on him baf65, he would have learnt something from the rice incident and won't ever do that again :-)) :-)) In my experience if men are not encouraged to help out or cook themselves they just lose interest. DD would always criticize her DH's efforts and he now does very little in the kitchen.  The only thing he will do is make drinks, cook on the BBQ, make sandwiches and do bacon and eggs for Sunday breakfast.  Messy - yes but it gives her a much needed break and at least he still does something.  In your case, rice pudding is certainly the way to go if you didn't already throw it out.

Some can be too fussy in their homes - I have a SIL who would always re-do the vacuuming after her DH did it as he left lines on the carpet  :-)) :-))

My DH used it a lot when we first got it but then left it and now says he can't use it. I have been trying to get him back into it and am slowly succeeding.

My DH knows what the TM is and raves about it to all and sundry, however I don't think that he is game enough to lift the MC cup even  :D

Ditto, CP63. Mine raves about it and tells everyone how wonderful it is and all the things it can do. He is worse than me to be honest.

My DH gets very cross because I'm always using the TMX when he wants it to make a smoothie... but I'm afraid that's all he know how to make!  :-))

 ;D ;D

My husband is the one telling everyone how great thermie is and he was the one that encouraged me to buy it, yet he has barely cooked in it and when he does it has been quite ordinary (and he is actually a good cook  ???)  Maybe it's actually to simple for them?????

Same with MrsT - she just raves about it to anyone - but I guess she bought it and needs to justify the cost  ;) ;) ;D
