Hi to everyone!
I am the proud owner of TM21! It's over 10 years old, but has barely been used, and it works like a charm! I first learned about Thermomix when I worked as an intern with Vorwerk in Wuppertal, Germany, in 1998-1999. I was living in a small studio apartment with no kitchen to speak of, and my bosses kindly let me borrow a Thermomix for the time I was there. I fell in love with it and was so excited about it that my parents bought a TM21 for themselves back in California. Well, my parents never really learned how to use it and after 10 years of my begging, they finally gave it to me for Christmas this year. So far, it seems that most of the recipes for the TM31 convert pretty easily to the TM21--thank goodness!
Looking forward to learning and sharing!

Welcome Tanya. Is yours in pounds and ounces and Fahrenheit?
-
Welcome Tanya, hope you can use lots of recipes from the forum, and also share some of your knowledge with us.

Welcome Tanya :)

WElcome Tanya. At last your TMX will receive the attention it deserves

Hi Tanya, I am so glad you ended up with the TM21. Bet it got a shock when you turned it on :o :o I suppose you converting TM31 recipes for the TM21 is as easy as us converting normal stovetop recipes into TMX recipes. Welcome to our forum.

Welcome - glad you managed to score the TM 21 - they work just fine - just really the reverse they don't have, but the butterfly and slow speed works.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome! Yes, my TM 21 is in ounces and Fahrenheit. Since every recipe is in grams, it's just easier for me to set my bowl on my kitchen scale to weigh. And thankfully, converting from 100˚C to Fahrenheit is easy! :) I'm trying out a recipe I converted for the Thermomix tonight. If it goes well, I'll post it.

Welcome Tanya :), lol so all that begging finally paid off, well done. M

Welcome Tanya, Glad to have you with us on the forum.

Hi Tanya,
I'm also in California. What's your location?

Hi and welcome Tanya. I'm looking forward to that converted recipe. :)

andiesenji,
I'm in the LA area. What about you?

Just posted my first recipe! It's a red kidney bean curry in the vegetarian section. Enjoy!

I live in Lancaster - probably about 100 miles from you (drive distance) but I do get down to the LA area fairly often. I drive to the Valley to shop at a couple of stores that haven't yet discovered the Antelope Valley has nearly half a million residents now and to shop at the farmers markets. We have only a produce market that sells local produce but it isn't like the "street markets" like the one in Santa Monica.
I also drive to Pasadena to shop at Bristol Farms (the closest one to me).
Since I got my TM31 in November, I have been trying out various recipes, converting some of my recipes, etc., and have been writing to Melinda Lee who does Food News on KNX 1070 every Saturday and Sunday morning from ten am to one p.m.
Eventually she will do a "tools segment" on the TMX from my experiences - I have done such stuff before because there is only so much she can do and I love gadgets and appliances. She trusts me to tell her the truth about my "testing" of such things.
Perhaps we can get together in the not-too-distant future.

You really are a gad about Andie - there are only 24 hours in the day in Australia - must be about 50 per day in California ;D ;D
Thanks for the recipe natslim

The one advantage I have always had is that I need very little sleep. I drop into REM sleep almost immediately after I sleep and after four hours or so, I am ready to awaken, totally refreshed. I never worried about "insomnia" because my mother and my grandmother (maternal) were the same way and while my sleep patterns were different in childhood and most of my teens, when I reached my twenties, I also began this pattern.
It was about the same time that I stopped growing. My growth lasted longer than normal, fortunate because I was rather short and the extra two inches I grew from age 18 to 20 made a big difference to me.
When one has an extra four hours a day to fill, there are many things one can accomplish.

Lucky you - I could probably do with less sleep, but MrsT is always complaining - come to bed and turn out the lights!! Used to survive on a lot less sleep when studying. Oh well - sacrifices

Welcome Tanya!! ;D
As to sleep.. as a single mum of 4... I'm not sure if I remember what that is exactly! :D
-
My DH has always said I am like a chook, go to bed when it gets dark and get up with the sun. :P I'm not really that bad! I must admit since retiring 4 years ago there are not enough hours in the day.
-
Cookie, how right you are. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Have to agree with this one too - rarely get to sleep before midnight or later, hardly watch any TV at all and have no trouble finding something to do. I am not up with the sparrows like you though Cookie1 - 8am is my preferred rising time. Boredom, what's that ??? I am amused when I see people sitting on their front verandah watching the cars go by and wonder if I will ever have time to do that ??? Thermomixer, I knew a couple when I lived in Darwin (he was American, she Fijian) who always went to bed at the same time together but after 4 hours sleep, he would get up as he had had his quota (like andie) for the night. I first noticed it because I had to get up for my then baby's 2am feed and could see him sitting at his kitchen table reading or writing - not much else one could do without waking the household at that time of the morning.

Hi and welcome!
I wish I could survive on only 4 hours sleep. I have bouts of insomnia and I always wake at 2am. If I'm stressed or very busy, I can't get back to sleep, so get up and work on the computer, read or do some other quiet activity. Then I go back to bed at 5.30 or so and sleep like the dead for a few hours!
