Title: New and excited in WA!
Post by: Linda on March 02, 2010, 02:51:48 pm
Hi,

I'm Linda and I live South of the River in WA.

I've been researching the TM for over 6months now, finally went to a demo last week and am so impressed - hubby is on board also, so I will be having my own demo asap and ordering my very own TM!

Have been really looking around this forum and am really excited to learn from you all. This forum and the thread on taste.com was what sealed it for me - reading about how much you all use yours and how you are all so encouraging to all the newbies.

Welcome Linda. I am SOR as well. You will love your TMX. When will you be having your demo?

Hi Linda, welcome to the forum. You've done plenty of homework on the TMX so it doesn't sound as if we have to convince you to buy - your mind is already made up.  Having DH on your side is a good start, bet you can't wait to have your demo.  Have fun.

Hi Linda

I'm south of the river as well (this means something to people in Perth  8). Purchased my TM after a demo 2 weeks ago and have been cooking like mad since it arrived last Wednesday, despite the heat!  I'm sure you'll love it!

Jan I'm having my demo next tuesday - just trying to get my friends as excited about the TMX as I am..... :-\

There seems to be lots of West Aussies here, must be a good sign!

Hello Karen - my old school friend!!! ;D

Yes - Kylee is doing my demo on Tues, ordering my baby and signing me up!
It's all stations go here and my hubby is already planning all the things we can make.
He was a baker/pastry chef for about 20yrs and once he saw the you-tube clip he was sold - we've been using a grain mill for 3yrs and he makes all our bread, rolls, pizza bases etc - but not as quickly as the TMX can!!

Linda, sounds like you'll have some great recipes to contribute once you get into converting.  And great to have the hubby on board so easily.

Nothing is as quick as the TMX!

I love mine more and more each day.  Especially when you run out of things like mayo or almond meal (yesterday) - no problem I can make some in the TMX!  :)  Much quicker than putting the kids in the car and driving to the shops LOL!

Thanks Cookie and all the others who welcomed me too!

Had my demo yesterday and I'm still in love with this thing...  Had a few friends who were VERY sceptical and won most of them over.  My little sister thinks it's a waste of money but that's ok - I put in my order and will have it very soon,  I've researched this for months and am convinced we've made the right decision.

Can you all let me know what was the very first thing you made in yours? Did you go all out and make a meal or start easy and do the sorbet?  I've got a million dishes in my head!  All hubby wants to make is bread, I can see all the kilos we've just lost going straight back on again......... :(

I was concerned I had wasted a lot of money until my machine arrived and I started using it.  Now I absolutely love it.  Many of my friends and family members still seem to think it is overpriced, but they don't see the workout that it gets on a daily basis and all of the amazing things it does!   ;D

Well - guess what I have on my bench, and today is my 40th birthday!!!

O happy me!!    :D :D

Last night made the butter chicken and seriously wanted to stick my face in the bowl and lick it clean....
Hubby made bread, I made a cake for work (not very successful though) and this morning hubby converted our favourite choc cake for the TMX and it was sensational!!!  The girls at work were impressed.

ALSO - I ordered a bench top pizza oven from FlyBuys and it arrived today so am making Megans pizza sauce right now and will do the dough for it soon.....

Love love love this thing......   :D

Happy birthday Linda - perfect surprise for a 40th.  I think you are going to really get the best out of this machine from what I have read so far.  Nice to see DH into the converting of recipes already - how clever is he 8) 8)

Ok - so we are now officially "goin off" in the kitchen! ;D

Have made enough bread for hubby to go back into the baking game I think...
I've cooked, whizzed, blended, steamed, processed and kneaded myself silly these past few days and am only just starting!  Had a group of girls here this morning and have all of them coveting my new baby....    :-*

Gotta start writing down our conversions now so we can remember how to do them again!

Well done Linda, looks like we might be getting a few recipes coming from your kitchen very soon. Don't forget to do some recipe reviews too if you are just following those from the cookbooks and some comments under forum recipes would be appreciated too.  :-* :-*

Hi Linda,
just discovered that website today and found your messages. I am also south of the river and got my TM just before Christmas. I cooked so much during the Holidays, breads, jams and all, had already 2 demos for my friends, really love it and the entire family is under the spell.
Have lots of fun.
Cath

Hi to you cathmomix10 - welcome to the forum.  Glad you finally found us and that all is going well with your TMX - 3 months on and you know all the good things this little wonder can do. You will find heaps of lovely recipes on this forum and now you have soooo much to chose from, you won't know where to start.

Hi to you Cath!  Yep - we are totally under the spell here too..

Judydawn - I need to familiarise myself with writing reviews.....?  I'm still a bit of a techno dummy   ???

I have tweaked a lot of EDC recipes - ie WAAAAAYYYY too much salt in the bread dough for our liking and it retards the yeast.  I made awesome rolls the other night for the kids lunches - will learn how to post photos.  (If I can drag myself away from my machine long enough that is!)

Note to self - cheddar cheese does NOT take very long to grate....  And brown rice doesn't work in the risotto.....   :-[

Welcome Linda, I am also from SOR. Good to hear your hubby using it as well, I am a bit scared mine might blow it up. He gets anywhere near any new technology (hes only 33) and I end up having to repair/rectify not only what he was doing but also the poor machine he touches lol. :)

Thanks Thermomixer - I'm good!

Hubby is using it for everything now - I went to make quesadilla filling in my electric frypan quickly after work and halfway through cooking he asked why I wasn't using the TM.  I said "boy you really ARE a convert now arn't you?"
HE said "we paid enough for it - use it"!!!!!!!  Aaaaah - men.

I did the Asian style fish last night and it was AMAZING   ;)  made the hollandaise sauce this morning - very ho hum....... :(
