Have you all heard of the above cooking class to be held at Phore Seasons Restaurant, 114 Semaphore Road, Semaphore on Wednesday 5th May 7pm - 9pm? I've booked my ticket (it is only 10 minutes away from where I live). Bookings from H.O. 1800 004 838 $40 per head. All guests will receive a special recipe pack and a discount to dine at the restaurant. Class to be run by the owner and head chef of this restaurant. Anyone going?

It certainly is Karen, I will let you all know what we had later - the announcement said 'enjoy the best Pierogi, Golabki and Chocolate Mousse ever, plus much more!'

Enjoy it Judy. What a great idea.

Would fly over for the class - but have a dinner booked with friends in Melb at a restaurant that uses a TMX !! (Koots)
-
That would have been nice Thermomixer - have you ever been here?
-
I have been to Phore Seasons and it is a stunning restaurant...Judyta is fantastic...You are going to LOVE it!
-
Thanks Tenina, I'm looking forward to it.
-
JD - haven't been to Adelaide in ages. Was contemplating going to some TMX classes that Ann Oliver does - but always seems to be a the wrong time.

Well I must say this was one of the better classes I have been to with TMX. On our plush dining room chair was sitting a 2010 calendar and a presentation folder which contained a TMX notepad, pen, discount voucher for 10% off a future meal at the restaurant and professionally printed recipe cards of everything done. In the corner sat a woman at a table with bottles of wine and full sized glasses - no-one seemed quite sure whether we were to buy a drink off her or ask for a sample so we did nothing.
The following is what was made tonight and what I thought of it.
Apple & Lemon Sorbet - very nice, more of an adult taste I thought.
Brussel sprout & chestnut soup - not too sure if I liked this or not as the sample wasn't hot enough or large enough. I would probably try it though.
Raw vegie salad - enjoyed this.
Roasted Red Capsicum Cream Cheese Dip - delicious. Would be nice over a baked potato or warmed as a sauce for over chicken.
Pierogi with 2 different fillings - cheese & potato plus a meat one. Very tasty but I think they were made earlier in the day and however they reheated them made the edges of the pastry a bit tough. I would reheat them gently in a thin mushroom sauce.
This recipe is on Page 108 of Meat on the Menu.
Golabki with porcini mushroom sauce. These are rice and mushroom stuffed cabbage leaves steamed in the varoma and were absolutely delicious.
Chocolate mousse served with farvorki (fried Polish pastries dusted with icing sugar). The mousse was more like a runny chocolate pudding, tasty but not mousse in my eyes. The farvorki were really nice.
Then the wine lady stood up and talked about her wine selection and advised which would go with what. We were then invited to go to the table for our tasting plate and then have a glass of wine or a glass of every wine if we wanted. Decent sized serving too. By now the class was running overtime as they usually do so I ate, drank 1 glass of wine and left. I thought it was great value for $40 and I now have some recipes to share with you all because no-one said we couldn't put them on the forum ;) ;) ;)

Thanks Judy,
Sounds like a great night and fantastic value for money!!!! And sounds like perhaps the restaurant and G/L have taken extra steps to ensure you have such a great night. That's fantastic!!
-
Wow that sounds great JD. I hope all of the other states take notice. :)
-
Sounds like a great night indeed - wish there were more similar demos.
-
The group leader also told us that the TMX will be making another appearance this year on Masterchef.
-
Thanks JD - hopefully the Consultants will be prepared this time - hope there's more warning for them
-
Judy, sounds like an excellent demo class!!
A shame I couldn't get there - but I just can't be everywhere!
-
Yes a pity Amanda, I'm sure you would have enjoyed the food. You never know, they might have another one further down the track.
I did forget one more thing we had before the class commenced and that was what the GL called a warm cocktail . A small sample of lemon, vodka and something else which tasted like a cure all for winter flu. I would drink it for that but wouldn't serve it as a cocktail. Pretty potent stuff, cough cough - they certainly didn't skimp on the vodka. Warmed us up on our first cold evening in months.
-
The group leader also told us that the TMX will be making another appearance this year on Masterchef.
Thanks JD. Janine said that they have already filmed 2 episodes where George has used it in his Master Class, these are yet to air.
-
The recipes look great JD - was it a consultant or the chef doing the demo?
-
The chef made the sorbet, soup, dip and chocolate mousse Thermomixer. The GL made the veg salad and with the Pierogi (it is her recipe in the meat cookbook) she made a batch of dough and showed us how to stuff them with the 2 fillings prepared earlier, even got a few people up to have a go. With the Golabki they wilted the cabbage out the back and made the filling out there too or earlier in the day and she just showed us how to roll them. She them steamed a batch made earlier. The Farvorki was also made earlier. We would have been there all night otherwise.

Thanks JD - good to see the teamwork - very lucky to have had this class.
