I've got this one from a Turkish magazine. The only difference I made was I halved the amount of the curry. I couldn't be sure if it would be too strong. I loved the way they turned out. I hope you like them too.
Curry and Rosemary Pretzels:
Ingredients:
400g flour
220g margarine or butter (room temperature)
85g fresh cream
1 dessert spoon salt
1 dessert spoon curry (original recipe uses 2 dessert spoons of curry)
1 egg yolk
Dried rosemary
Preparation:
Sift in flour. Add margarine. Mix for 1 minute on Speed 4. Use also TM spatula through the lid to mix better.
Add salt, curry and cream. Mix for 1,5 minutes on Speed 4. Make use again of TM spatula
Knead for 2 minutes
Let it rest for 15minutes at room temperature
Get small pieces from the dough. Roll each piece into a rope about 20-22cm long and twist into a pretzel shape (as in the photo)
Place them in oven tray which is previously covered with wax paper
Brush the top of each pretzel with the beaten egg yolk. Sprinkle with dried rosemary in the center (where the ends connect together)
Bake them in the 180°C preheated oven for 20-30 minutes until browned
Afiyet olsun aka Buon Appetito ;)

Sounds good and they look good too. xxxxx Interesting, do they use ordinary cream or soured cream in Turkey for this?
-
It is milk cream, not sour one Thermomixer
In Turkey they don't sell sour cream. In Italy you may find in limited markets, so not that common
-
These look lovely. Would be nice to have for lunch with a warming soup.
-
They are great also as snack ;)

We don't have rosemary growing, but our local park does. I can often be seen down there with my scissors. ;)

VHJ you must have seen me!

Well... after our chats I just want to make sure that for this recipe you should use dried rosemary, not a fresh one ;)
-
Thanks for that farfallina. Saves me having to steal from the park. 8) 8) 8)

Thanks for this recipe Farfallina, my 17 yr old DS is always wanting savoury snacks so I will have to give this one a go. They look and sound great.
-
I've always loved savoury snacks
When I was at her age I preferred savoury to sweet.
I didn't use to have sweet snacks
I've been corrupted later :)

Made this one - turn out like my mum's kaastengels - same texture, different shape. Instead of curry powder, it has grated edam cheese. The shape is more like short finger/snail, 5cm long. Should try mum's version next time.
-
Let us know as well when you try your mom's recipe Denzelmum ;)
-
My mum died 10 years ago and I took it for granted and not having the recipes... Would be fun to experiment.
-
I am very sorry to hear that. I don't know what else to say...

Dear Farfallina, Can you kindly explain why dried is so much better than fresh in this recipe? I am sorry if I am asking an ignorant question.
-
cecilia, it is not ignorant at all !
well let me explain
in the recipe i had it was written "dried"
there was a moment in the forum that we were talking about stealing rosemary so i just wanted to make sure that the recipe stated to use dried one
Using fresh rosemary instead of dried one? well it could be done I suppose
However I personally prefer dried rosemary for this one. I like the recipe as it is. It recalls me something I had when i was small I guess... nostalgia maybe ;)

Thank you so much, Farfallina. I will read the recipe and do as you say.
