Title: Introducing myself
Post by: Lottie on June 29, 2010, 01:27:17 pm
[move][flash=200,200][flash=200,200]Hi I am not yet a Thermomix owner but I'd like to find out more about it by using this forum.  One thing I'd like to ask is whether the Thermomix can grate carrots.  I mean grate so that they are finely cut but remain long in shape and not chop to small pieces.  Also, have anyone used the Thermomix to make soya milk or tofu?  Is the Thermomix able to grind soya beans and grains such as rice and wheat to a fine powder?  Thanks.  Lottie

Hi Lottie welcome to the forum.  Don't know why your posting is not stationary but it is very hard to read whilst it is moving across the screen.  Regarding the grating of carrots, no you don't get long threads when you grate in the TMX - it chops into small pieces (or if you do it too long, into mush  :D :D).  This is great for cakes though.  It can grind rice and wheat into powder but don't know about making tofu but there is a recipe for making soy milk in the book that comes with the machine. Have you been to a demo?  The demonstrator will have all the answers for you but feel free to ask as many questions on this forum too as there is always someone who knows the answer.

Wow how did you do that? Ok just saw the button. A little hard to read with a long text though?
And thanks for asking about tofu, I didn't know that, off to find some recipes!
And enjoy the forum!

Welcome - Carrots can only be chopped so that they are minced in effect - no long strips.

Thanks for the pm Lottie, looks like the girls are enjoying this posting immensely and we have now all learnt how to do what you unsuspectingly did.  Keep an open mind about the machine, do some more research and read as much as you can from this forum.  A demo though is essential if you are seriously interested in the machine.  You have to see it to believe it and it is not just another kitchen gadget, believe me.

For some reason, Lottie's post is blank to me. I can see everyone else's 'flash' coded posts. I have flash ad blocker, so may be that's it?

Welcome Lottie, I did not realise thie 'ticker-tape' feature existed when posting - what fun!  However this post may  be a little annoying to read as it flashes past (given the length) - I used this forum as well as research on the net before I took the plunge and purchased, as I initially believed that TMX would be another appliance to add to my immense collection!  How very wrong I was, I have been an owner since Sunday - between the wonder machine and this forum I have done little else during the 1st week of Qld school hols.  The members are so positive and supportive!

Cheers
