I love this bread for breakfast and brunches. You can eat for lunch or dinner as well
The recipe is from Io e il mio Bimby. I made a few modifications due to my palate. Feel free to fill as you wish
Ingredients:
250g milk
25g fresh yeast
10g sugar
550g flour
1 egg
50g extra virgin olive oil
10g salt
1 egg yolk (to brush on the top)
Nigella seeds
Filling:
100g ham slices like speck (I used chicken sausage)
100g cheese like Asiago, Emmental...etc, roughly chopped
25 pitted olives
Preparation:
Warm milk for 1 minute at 37°C on Speed 1.
Add sugar and yeast. Mix for 5 seconds on Speed 4.
Sift in flour. Add egg, oil and salt.
Knead for 3 minutes.
Put it in a deep bowl, cover with plastic film and let it rise for 1 hour.
After risen, roll out the dough with rolling pin about 45x50cm size.
Cut it into 3 strips lengthwise.
Chop sausage for 5 seconds on Speed 5, put it over the first strip.
Chop cheese for 5 seconds on Speed 7, put it over the second strip.
Chop olives for 5 second on Speed 4, put it over the third strip.
Roll each one into a log shape carefully so that the filling wouldn't come out during baking.
Plait simply like hair. Place it in oven tray that is previously covered with baking paper and Let it rise for 1 hour.
Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with nigella seeds
Bake in preheated oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.
Enjoy...

i will have to give this one a go. I made a Danish Braid (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3713.0) which was very nice too. it looks like a lot of fun to make :)

Yum. My bread making has lapsed and we have been eating bought bread. I seem to have been rather busy. I am determined that I'll get some made today or tomorrow. The bought bread tastes ok but doesn't seem to have any substance to it.

Looks and sounds delicious farfallina and will have to try it soon. Bit time poor ATM but good things come to those who wait. ;)

the cheeses are unfamiliar to me, but can be substituted for jarlsberg, gruyere, or swiss. the speck is a bit of a mystery - do you mean salami / chorizo or ham slices or actual chicken sausages?
-
I hope you enjoy it when you make it girls :)
CreamPuff as filling you can use the cheese you like
Asiago is a kind of Italian cheese. Emmental is Swiss. Also Edam, Jarlsberg and Gruyere would be great.
About ham, salami, sausage... I am a bit confused myself as well because from what I saw I can tell that it changes from one country to another.
Speck is a kind of ham similar to prosciutto. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speck.
In the original recipe there is speck. It is also written that you can use prosciutto crudo (prosciutto di parma) instead of speck
Nevertheless you can pick any kind that you wish I believe.
I used something like Vienna sausage made of chicken since I don't eat pork. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_sausage
