I thought I'd share this wonderful news with my friends on here. My dtr and her partner are expecting a little boy at the beginning of January, she's 23 weeks along.
They are thrilled seeing they didn't think they would be able to have any. She's visiting us for a few days and is finally showing a baby bump.
We've got some great times to come, I can't wait. :D
-
JulieO that is really wonderful news. I am not a nanna but I know from friends and of course people on here that it is a wonderful thing. One friend actually says (tongue in cheek) that if she had known she would have had the grandkids first.
-
Congratulations to your whole family JulieO. Your lives will head off in a different direction now as you do all the things us grandparents do. Hope you get plenty of babysitting jobs in the future. :-* :-*
I can remember how excited I was when my DD finally came to tell us they were expecting. After 10 years of marriage I was beginning to think I was never going to be a Grandma and my baby hope chest was bulging at the seams by then. Of all my friends, I was the only one that really wanted to be a Grandma early but ended up coming last - better late than never. All I had was 5 grand-dogs until then.
-
Congratulations to you all Julie ;D ;D What an exciting time!! I can't wait to spoil my grandkids and then send them home with their parents lol - though that will be quite a few years away!!!!
Think of all the wonderful things you will be able to introduce him to with all you fantastic food - OMG he will be in heaven :D
-
congratulations julieo..lots of fun times ahead..enjoy every moment and so happy for your DD that she is finally having a baby..very scary thought of being deprived of that ..again so happy for you and your DD :)
-
Congratulations Julie on your wonderful and very exciting "Nanna News". Bring on January and the arrival of little Bambino!
-
JulieO, that is great news. Take plenty of photos from day one. I made a large collage for each of our grand children with photos of them during their 1 st two years. Now they are older, they love to look at them. I am soooooooo excited for you.
-
What wonderful news Julie. My daughter and her husband are due early December, so like you we are very excited.

What wonderful news!!! I didn't think you would be old enough Julie ;) :-*
What an adventure for you!!! From my own mothers excitment and pride at becoming a grandmother (DD is the first & only grandchild in the foresee-able future) you must be absolutly bursting at the seams with excitment and pride. Enjoy!!!

Thankyou Cornish & ILB. ;D
I will be 53 in 2 weeks, so am old enough :D Though when I write it, it doesn't seem possible it's me I'm writing about! :D :D

Thats fantastic news JulioO -congratulations. How exciting and lucky baby to have you as his grandmother
-
Oh what a lovely thing to say Jan, thankyou ;D
-
Congratulations, what wonderful news. Between my brother, my sister and myself we have provided my parents with 8 Grandchildren in less than 5 years. Very, very busy times, but it is lovely they have so many cousins to play with. The first 4 grandies were girls, then 4 boys.
-
Congratulations and enjoy!!!
I had kids so late in life I'm not sure I'll ever get there but would love to.
-
Kimberley, I bet Christmas is a wonderful time! ;D

Thanks Thermomixer :)
-
That's fantastic news - congratulations! Speaking as one who has been told a number of times by Drs that I can't have children, I'm the proud mother of 2 beautiful girls. So who knows, maybe you'll end up as a Nana twice over :D
-
Thanks Caroline, you never know. :D
-
What lovely news JulieO! Congrats to you all. Keep us posted on the progress, won't you?
I can't wait to be a nan. I'm 53 too! My DD is living with her partner, no sign of wedding bells, but she's only 23. My younger DS has a gorgeous partner of two years, so fingers crossed!!
-
Thankyou meganjane, will do. Fingers and toes crossed for you too! :D
-
JuliieO, we have just had our GD to stay for 4 days, and we all had the best time. So much fun, even though she came in at 6.30am and climbed into bed with us, We went to the Fairy Cave, ate all the wrong things, had hour long baths, ate Rocky Road for the first time, sat up in the cafe and behaved like a 'big' person. She is 5. You are in for a real treat.
-
Sounded like fun Chookie apart from the 6.30am visits :D :D
-
Chookie, sounds like you had the best of times. I'm hoping when he gets older he'll be able to come and stay with us for a few days too, now and then to give his mum and dad a break. It's weird because it doesn't seem that long since my dtr was a baby herself! Has gone way to fast. That's getting older for you! :D :D
-
congrats julie!
-
Thanks brazen. :)
-
Happy birthday (soon-to-be) GRANNIE :-* :-* :-* :-\

Happy 53d birthday JulieO.

Thankyou so much Thermomixer, Judy and Cookie. Yes I had a day off cooking, we all went out for a nice meal which I did enjoy. ;D

I'm so excited to announce the birth of my first grandchild, a little boy weighing exactly 4kg (8.8lbs) on Tuesday 11/1/11. I was present at the birth at my daughter's request and it was a wonderful experience. Her labour was less than 4 hours.
He is gorgeous with jet black hair, they've named him Dante. Luckily she only lives just under 3 hours away so will be making more trips to where she lives.
Thankyou for all your well wishes,
Julie.
This photo was taken just after his first bath the day after delivery. ;D

Gorgeous, little boy. Congratulations.
ciao

Julie, congratulations to all of you. He is just gorgeous - babies just melt my heart, I love them to bits. Thank you so much for putting a photo on the forum for us all to see. What an experience for you and how lovely your DD wanted you at the birth. Your lives will never be the same now you are grand-parents (and parents), enjoy :-* :-* :-*
-
JulieO! Wonderful for all. What a lovely name. Congratulations, the first one is very special.
-
How wonderful Julie. He is beautiful! I love the name Dante. :)
-
Like Judy, my heart melts when I see babies! He's so beautiful. :-*
Congratulations to you all!
-
Congratulations Julie and to your daughter and other half. He looks wonderful and his name suits him.
What a great day to be born 11.1.2011.
-
Congratulations to you and your family Julie. What a beautiful bub, so precious. That sounds like a great labour, being less than 4 hours too. And Dante does have an easy birthdate to remember which I can appreciate. My youngest son was born on my birthday, 16 months ago, 09/09/09, so I always joke saying that at least one of my children cannot forget my birthday when he is older ;)
-
:D Thankyou everybody. Virgo, the midwives were hoping for an 11am birth to add to the all the elevens. He was born at 10.48am so just missed out! :D
Will just share a photo just emailed to me. ;D

Awww, he is so lovely. It's amazing how fast they do grow and change. I have 3 children and that is it, but there is just something so amazing seeing a newborn.
Had a little chuckle to myself about the time of birth - when I was in labour DH was 'encouraging' me to get DS out for 9.09am. If I could have reached DH, he would have got a smack! However, he was happy enough when DS came out at 9.59am, 'cause we had some more nines ;D
-
congrats julie o hé is adorable and how wonderful for you to share in thé birth of your first grandson! Exciting times ahead.... Enjoy being a grandparent and thx for sharing the photos !
Wishing you and your family health, happiness and many wonderful memories together.

Congratulations to all of you. Glad your daughter had what sounds like a great birth experience. How special that you got to share it with her. Hope they are having a lovely babymoon and everything is going well for them.
Brilliant date of birth too!
-
Congratulations Julie and to your daughter and other half. He looks wonderful and his name suits him.
What a great day to be born 11.1.2011.
Thats' as good a birth date as my late Nana's. Hers was 1.1.1911.
He is gorgeous Julie. I haven't seen a cuter baby in a long time. Well in 7 1/2 years but I was a little biased then. ;-)
-
Congratulations Julie on becoming a Nanna.Beautiful baby, a great name and gorgeous photos. :)
-
Awww thankyou again everyone, it's so nice to read all your well wishes. :D
Wow Foodie, 1911. Another date not to be forgotten. He is cute isn't he. 8) Thanks for posting in the other forum. :)
-
Congrats JO ;D he is stunning! What gorgeous hair too!! Welcome earthside little Dante :-*. Enjoy :)
-
JulieO - What a handsome little fella ;D ;D. The thing I love about babies is the amazing way they open hearts and expand the amount of love in the world. I have a close relationship with my mum and when I had my babies my appreciation and love for her (and admiration - she had 3 babies in 2 3/4 years) deepen as all of a sudden I saw her in a very different light. Enjoy him and watching your daughter being a parent.
-
Congratulations JulieO, how wonderful!
I've been told(by my parents) that one of the great things about being a grandparent is that you can spoil them rotten and then give them back! Also when you look after then you can enjoy them, you don't have to juggle everything else, you drop everything as you will have time to do it later!!!
Have fun being Nanna and congrats too to yoour daughter and partner.
-
Thanks again everyone for your lovely wishes, it means a lot. ;D
