Is there a chart for cooking times according to food weight for the Varoma?
Eg, I have about 500g of chick breast, how long must I allow?

Hi Molly, the Full Steam Ahead book has a table like you are looking for pg 17. Hold a varoma demo when you can (if you haven't had one) and get hold of the book as it has a heap of information in it.
600g of chicken breast on the FSA table is cooked for 20-25 minutes. I would start checking it after 12 - 15 minutes to make sure you don't over cook it and dry it out. ;)

Thanks. I have a demo booked for next month.... darn it! :-))
As it was it took more like 50 minutes in a roasting bag.
-
lol you will have the book for ever more there after :D
-
Is the chart also in taste of Vegetarian?
-
No, only cooking times for beans and grains unless they have steaming times in a later version than mine TMXer.
-
Um, might be the My Way of Cooking books? Sorry
-
Yes, that's it but meat, fish and poultry only - no vegies.

Hey JD. look at what I found:
Maddy, these are the times in my FSA cookbook for you to work on.
Carrots 800g 30 mins cut into slices
carrots 800g 25-30 mins whole, very thin
broccoli florets 800g 15 mins
cauliflower florets 800g 25-30 mins
cabbage 800g 23-25 mins, different kinds, cut into strips
asparagus 800g 25-30 mins, stalks, medium size
peppers 500g 15 mins, cut into 1cm strips
button mushrooms 500g 15 mins
peas 500g 16-18 mins frozen
potatoes 500g 30 mins cut into pieces, medium size
leek 800g 25 mins cut into slices
green beans 800g 25-30 mins whole
fennel 800g 30 mins cut into quarters
fennel 800g 18-20 mins cut into slices
spinach 500g 10-12 mins fresh, not more than 500g
zucchini 800g 25 mins cut into 1cm slices
Thats the vegies, there are fruit, fish & seafood and meat times too if you want them listed.
I must admit I don't even look at this chart, I wing it like you do and it also depends on how much you like your vegies cooked.

Nice to see you back and on the ball TMXer :-*
-
I'm with you Judy and I just wing it, no way I would cook asparagus for 25-30 minutes. ;D
-
You are right CC, I just copied the list in the book and didn't take much notice. Reading recipes from MWOC last night, they tell you to add asparagus with 7 minutes to go. I've made a note on the original list but can't amend the one TMXer copied above.
