I have a problem with our new TM. the speed knob does not turn first time, even though the machine has beeped that it is closed.
Today I had to open and close it at least 10 times before I could turn the knob.
Does anyone else have this problem.

Sometimes even if it has beeped it needs to be pushed that little bit further before the speed can be turned on. Just make sure the seal is in properly and never force the dial. Call your consultant and talk to them about it.

DJ, this was the problem I had recently and it was caused by the inside of the bottom casing being cracked. Our group leader took it her DH who has trained to be a TMX repairman, replaced the bottom casing. Not to say this is your problem but if you are sure the seal is in place, the lid is locked into position but you are having to force the speed dial then something is wrong. Make that phone call to your consultant to get the matter sorted. I was lucky, mine was a couple of months inside the warranty period.

I found that this happened with mine in the beginning (it must loosen / wear in a little with time and use). I take the lid off, push the bowl down a little further put the lid on again and it's usually fine. It's happening less now so it must be getting a bit more worn in. :D

I am also a brand new owner and after a busy 24 hrs on the job I also have the same problem. I don't think it is anything I am doing as when I walk away and come back a few minutes later it works. The problem is intermittent. I have called my lovely rep and she is coming over tomorrow.

I sometimes find I have to give mine a little jiggle. It usually occurs after I've stopped doing something and turn it to the unlock instead of lock before trying to start up again.

My consultant has just TAKEN the thermomix away. Will report how things go.

My tmx is very new and does this a little too, I asked my consultant about it today, she is going to come and have a look, but i find if i take the lid off and try again it works... I am wondering if it is just because it is new

I decided not to get her over as mine is a fairly minor problem, i just loosen the lid and click it in again and it seems to work, so i figured I will just go with it till she comes to do my Varoma demo in a few weeks... Sorry not to be able to offer any good news, I hope your thermie is returned soon and is ok!!

Proud owner of a thermomix but no chance to explore much yet.
Initially I also faced the same problem, ie lid closed with the sound "dinging" but unable to turn the knob. My husband then found a way to overcome this, which was to give the lid a nudge further to the left even after the lid has "dinged" and so far haven't had a problem with turning the knob.

I often need to give mine a nudge to the left. I do it so often that I really don't think about it. If the knob doesn't turn I just push the lid a bit further.

Ok - I now have my Thermobuddy back! The issue was the lid which has been replaced! So far so good all is working perfectly - it is whirring up a chicken curry as I report to you all! :-: :)
