:) hello all, I'm from Brisbane, just had a basic Demo on Saturday and my gorgeous husband agreed to buy the Thermomix as a Christmas/birthday/anniversary present, yippee! ;D. Can't wait for it to arrive!
I have four kids aged 10, 8, 6, 3 and I am trying to lose weight and looking to make a lifestyle change.
Can't wait to get cracking!

Welcome Lady Ricey.

Welcome to the forum Lady Ricey - lucky you. Just in time for all that extra Christmas cooking too - oops, no you are trying to lose weight aren't you. Better not look in our dessert/cake/biscuit sections then unless you have amazing willpower and can bake for others without being tempted yourself. Good luck and have fun with your machine when it arrives.

Welcome, what a great pressie. This is a great forum. Hope you are better than I am at using the tmx for losing weight though.
-
:'( oh no, you mean I won't lose weight just by owning one? :o
;D
Thanks for the welcome, I am going to check out the recipes, yum!
-
hi lady ricey, i have had my tmx lfor 5 days now and already think how healthy everyhing is, for instance the creamy tomato salami fettucine, only uses 200ml of cream, and it was enough to serve 3 adults and 4 kids, usually if i cook a creamy dish i would have put in the whole tub of cream!
be prepared have some ingrediants ready so that you can make something as soon as it arrives. i think it would be good if we recieved our cookbook and instruction manual from our consultant when we order, so that we are familiar wiith it all before the tmx arrives.
good luck,
nicky :)

Congratulations! Welcome to the forum. You will have so much fun with your TMX.
Just think of all those lovely salads you can make for summer. With lovely steamed fish or marinate some chicken, prawns or steak and put that in the Varoma with some vegies or rice. How healthy and fat free is that??? I'm hungry just thinking about it.
I'm so excited for you!
Enjoy ;)

Great present! Welcome to the forum.
-
Hi and welcome. I'm afraid the TMX is noted for adding a couple of kilos, although I remember one person who was losing weight. I'm afraid I can't remember who it was. Bron also managed to lose weight. To be truthful you will be able to make lots of lovely healthy things.

Now to decide what to make first?
-
Welcome to the forum Lady Ricey - you will certainly enjoy this wonderful gift that keeps on giving, whether that be quick and healthy food or a few kilos! Enjoy.
Cheers

So far my husband has made the veggie stock, and he's making Ginger beer today. I've made milkshakes for the kids, pizza dough, fruity dream ( which was a disaster because I didn't pulverize the sugar first, d'oh! It tasted good but was crunchy/gritty :-)) and a cappuccino. This morning I made boiled eggs, easy!
One thing I've noticed is that the recipes don't seem to indicate how many serves they produce. I'm sure I will figure it out with trial and error eventually.
I am enjoying cooking again!

Great news.

I love the ginger beer recipe Lady Ricey and would make it more often if ginger wasn't so expensive. It took me ages to get around to boiling eggs in the TMX but wouldn't do it any other way now. I also find it annoying that there are no details of how many serves recipes produce, with drinks I just add up the mls of all the ingredients (mainly talking cocktails here) and work it out from there, easy to just make one glass that way. Glad to see you are enjoying your cooking once more.

Hi My Name is Hanner :-))
I'm new and does anyone know how to convert
normal recipes into Thermomix ones.? Help
-
Hi Hanner, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have just purchased your TMX but before you go converting some of your favourite recipes I would suggest you try some from the forum or the book which came with your machine. This will give you the feel for the machine and will be a great help when it comes to converting your own recipes. It took me a while before I did any myself. Having said that, what is it you want to convert? Put the recipe up for others to look at and we may be able to help - you obviously think the recipe could be done in the TMX.
I have just found this on Quirky Jo's blog - great advice http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/10/converting-recipes-for-thermomix.html
-
wow, you have been very busy for your 1st day! welcome from nicky, owner of tm all of 10 days!
-
Hi and welcome Hanner. I agree that it may be best to familiarise yourself with your machine before you start converting. How long have you had your TMX? Do you have a wonderful consultant who can help you?
If you want to make a family favourite find something in the cookbook that is similar and that will give you some idea of times and temperatures.
Another great idea is to do as Judy suggested. Post the recipe here and people will help you convert it.
Happy Thermomixing.

Belated welcome - sounds like DH may have bought it for himself ;)
