Yesterday, 6 TMX owners came to my home for a 'lesson' on how to use the TMX to make bread. They were eager to learn and a particularly nice group of people. All were having difficulties in creating a satisfactory result. We made white rolls, various shapes ;D with added seeds, bread sticks, Rustic Loaf which I started the day before and Farfallina's Hazlenut Loaf. They enjoyed making the rolls best. They worked in pairs which they enjoyed. I printed off all the recipes for the bread and the biscuits for morning tea and the lunch. I would encourage any other members who have a particular skill with the TMX to consider helping other who are not using there TMX enough. Can you see 3 TMX in the Photo? I know you are going to ask, that is me in the red top on the right.

its a busy little bakery chookie :D
-
Oh what fun!!
-
Good on you Chookie, it's great to share your knowledge and I can imagine the fun you all had there yesterday. Did DH manage to get a word in :D :D Thanks for posting the photo.
-
Judy, DH took the photo and made the coffee in his special machine. He hid in the study the rest of the time with the 1 male 'student' paying visits. He said later that he could tell that everyone was enjoying the activity by the amount of talking and laughter.
I think we will have a few more Forum members as a result of the session. 2 have been lurking and knew the names of many of the Forum members.
-
How wonderful Chookie. I'm sure your students will be very inspired with their breadmaking. Next time you are over in Tassie you are very welcome to come and do a lesson at my house. ;) ;D
-
What a wonderful thing to do Chookie, looks like you all had a great day. ;D
-
Chookie, that is a lovely way to share your extensive knowlege. I certainly love learning by 'watching and doing' rather than just reading instructions.
-
Good on you Chookie!! What a gem you are to share your knowledge like you do in so many ways :-* :-* :-*
-
That is a great idea focussing on one special food like that for a 'power' session, like a masterclass! I wouldn't mind going to one of those for cocktails :)
-
That was a great thing to do Chookie. Those on this forum know what a font of knowledge you are when it comes to bread so I can imagine the amount of information you students took away. Lucky them. When are you taking your classes "on the road".
-
I wish I had been one of those lucky girls in your bread class Chookie, I would have loved it. ;D You are so kind to share your skills with everyone and I think we are all privileged to know you, even though for most of us it's through a computer. :D :D
-
Cookie, How wonderful of you to open your home up to help people master to bread making art. Wish I lived closer as these get togethers are what a lot of people are looking for. It gives confidence to new owners and broadens the knowledge of others. Good on you!!!

We'd have to stay the night if we went to one of those cottchick :D :D
-
It was such good fun, I will attend any that some of you specialist cooks would like to hold. MMMM Cocktails sounds good with Judy's suggestion of sleep over. The group that attended expressed interest in, Jams and Chutneys, Pastry, Main Meals, Cakes and Slices, infact anything that they could use the TMX for. I think 'hands on 'is better than just looking.
-
What a fab idea! I recently had a call from a friend who bought a TMX and was really disappointed in it. We spent a good 40 minutes on the phone chatting about how to get the best out of it. I gave her some recipes, including ILB's Chocolate Bimby Cake and she was much more positive by the end of our chat.
It'd be great to have people like you, chookie, to go to for various sessions on the TMX. I'll book in to the cocktail's one too and bring my swag!
You should be on the Thermomix payroll!
-
Chookie what an exciting time you must have had. I wish I was closer. You look just like your avatar. I think I'll have to convince DH that we need to do a trip round Australia called the TMX trip. Perhaps for 2012. We have 2011 booked with friends and 2014 booked for a National Car Meet. Gosh life is too short.
-
Cookie, you would be most welcome. Plenty of room and the DH's could talk cars. I'm not joking. ;D
-
Thanks, we may well take you up on it one day.
-
Just fabulous Chookie! I wish one of my friends close by, owned a tm.....apart from this forum, I have no one to gush to :-[
I think I must bore them silly sometimes....not many of them like to cook :o
How did your lesson come about?
-
OK I think a themed national meet with cocktails as the topic is required. Who is going to organise?
-
It would be fun wouldn't it?
-
Would be a big job to organise but I'm sure there would be takers ;)
-
Maddy, the bread demo came about because I attended a couple of "Back to Basics" classes , mostly just to support my consultant. I noticed that a lot of woman at the meeting were not using their TMX very well and felt that they had paid a lot of money for a useless bit if machinery . They particularly were having trouble with the bread recipe in the EDC book. I have taught several groups of people to make bread over the years, so why not with TMX. My consultant said she had several clients who would be interested. And it grew from there. As they were leaving they asked if I would do more. So there is obviously a need. I am not sure that HO would be impressed as they like to keep a firm hold of what is going on. There are about a dozen members on this Forum, whom I could name, who would have the knowledge and skills to do what I did. I would be prepared to share planning details with any one who is interested.
-
Anything that teaches owners how to get the most out of their machine Chookie, has to be a good thing. I'm sure H.O. wouldn't want to hear that people are not happy with them - word of mouth is a powerful selling tool and a happy TMX owner helps sell more for the company. It is a good thing that you did and the response from our members proves that. :-* :-*
-
Brilliant idea Chookie! :-*
I'm fairly confident with my bread making skills but I'd have loved to have attended too! ;D
-
How nice of you Chookie. I meet once or twice a month some TM owners, we prepare food and have lunch together. It's always fun.
-
Wish I could have come too :(
I would definitely be interested if some experts were to do this sort of thing in Perth.
-
I was one of the lucky ones who attended chookies breadmaking demo and we had so much fun. We all shared tips and ideas with each other. Chookie also made lunch for us which was very yummy. Even though I ate so much at lunch and I was full, I couldn't help myself from eating a few slices of bread when I got home. Thanks again chookie and I am looking forward to our next get together.
-
Pandateddy, I think the sharing is one of the strengths of this sort of activity. Thanks for your nice comments.
-
How lucky were you to live in Chookie's area pandateddy - we're all envious of those who were there that day. Where are you in the photo?
-
I am on the left in the photo (my name is Lee) and next to me is my sister Nicole. I haven't put a photo with my posts because I don't know how to. I will have to ask my sister who is more technologically advanced than I am. Its lucky that the thermomix is easy to operate because if it was anything like a computer I would have no success with it at all. I'd still be learning how to turn it on. I live abot 10 mins from chookie, but my sister came from Ballarat and said she was glad she made the trip.
-
Thanks for that Lee, nice to know who is who.
-
pandateddy, glad to see you back on the Forum. When I started I didn't even know how to introduce myself. :o :o :o Judy said that they had been watching me lurking. She held my hand and talked me through it. When i wanted to post pictures, Judy and Thermomixer had a pretty rough time getting me through that. Now O4aTimTam has kindly fixed up my disorganized presentation of the KFC recipe and has made it more user friendly. She has tried to explain how, at my request, to replace my recipe with her more user friendly presentation. I'm not quite up to that yet.
So Lee , what I am saying, is ask for help as it is all here on the Forum.
-
Chookie, well done!!! What a great effort!!
I know in the past consultants (including myself) started looking at running smaller classes but under a certain banner I was advised that the insurance didn't cover us for these more specific classes. Only the HO organised ones. Which is such a pity.
Cocktails in Wangaratta???? But you'd need bring your sleeping bags and mozzie repellant!!!! :D :D
How wonderful Chookie. I'm sure your students will be very inspired with their breadmaking. Next time you are over in Tassie you are very welcome to come and do a lesson at my house. ;) ;D
Hi Chelsea,
I'll be over your way next week for work ;)
-

Right with you there Cottchick!!
-
Chelsea, would love to catch up. YOU could teach me a thing or two about soaked grain bread. We are coming to Tassie again to watch the finish of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race, but will be at the other end of your beautiful Island.
-
i wouldn't mind hosting an 'impromptu gathering of friends' here in Perth at my house as long as it was a Saturday in January/February...hands up who wants to come and suggestions for our 'discussion'.
footnote: forgot we speak on a World Wide Web forum, and may have to limit the numbers if there is an overwhelming response. Oh yes, and axe murderers are not welcome!
-
I would be there in a flash if I didn't live thousands of miles away Creampuff. ;D Photos please!!!! :-* :-*
-

That's me with my hand up CP63!
I'd love to come and will bring Herman as well. We can all bring various parts of the dishes we decide to make.
-
CP63, sounds like a good idea. Wish I didn't live on the other side of the continent. ;D
-
Good for you CP63 - your 'class' will fill up very quickly I'm sure.
-
Count me in CP63. I'll ponder the topic for discussion. (I'm sure it will come to me after a few wines/champagnes ;))
-
Me tooooooooo please. :-*
-
I would like to come too please, as long as DH would be home that day to look after the kids.
-
So far we have, and happy to add more:

probably for me Feb would be ideal, is there any particular Saturday that is NOT doable?
-
Umm, the only one I can think of at the moment is whenever the Rotto Channel swim is (26th Feb I think). DH is going through a mid-life crisis ;) and has decided to challenge himself by swimming there in a team of four!!
-
As far as I know anytime is fine on a SAturday.
-
Hi Creampuff, I have only just seen this today and wonder if it is too late for me to join you all. I would love to meet you all and cook with the experts! I will be down South from 2nd Feb to 12th Feb though, and you might have already organised this during this time. Anyway, please let me know one way or the other.
-
Sounds like fun :) count me in please

-
Aren't you doing it all CP63? ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Rofl yes it would be lovely for me to be on the other side of demoing lol
-
ha ha yeah right cookie...no I am a wonderfully caring and sharing sort of person, and I say all hands on deck :D give some thought as to what you really want to see and do. If we don't do more than a couple of things and just have a laugh and a chat and just talk TM what the heck! Sometimes just talking you pick up something that will be of huge help, and just getting together is nice also but I know we can all learn from each other so having some sort of plan prior will make the get together all the more worthwile.
-
I am happy to provide ingredients when we all decide what we are going to do, as I will be asking lots of questions, and not providing too many answers ??? Looking forward to meeting you all.
-
When is your next class and where is it..
Love to be there too and get some more hints
KayC
-
Yes, I'm looking forward to learning from the seasoned pro's too, but I don't think I have much to offer in return though (apart from supplying ingredients, washing dishes etc). I haven't even tried converting a recipe yet! The only ones I've tried in the TMX have been from the forum or the EDC.
Are we going to have a theme?
-
i haven't had a chance to think of a theme...thinking caps ladies :-*
-
Grr, I know I posted here yesterday and it's gone. :'( :'( There is a lot of my 'stuff' up there in cyber space.
Will put my thinking cap on after Christmas. We have Christmas, wedding anniversary and a birthday very close together.
