Great for breakfast with yoghurt or as a Dessert with icecream
Ingredients:
500g plums, halved, pitted
240g water
60g sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 stick cinnamon
Method:
Wash and weigh plums in the TM basket, prepare them, set aside.
Add sugar, water, lemon juice and cinnamon stick into TM bowl. Set 5 minutes, 100o, Speed Soft.
Now add plums, and set 3-5 minutes, Reverse, Speed Soft until plums are tender.
Remove from TM and chill.

Thank you. As soon as The Spud Shed has some cheap I'll give it a go, or go up into the hills to get some. I like the dark red ones the best.

the Blood Plums are my favourite as well. wish we had a Spud Shed closer to us - I just can't believe the prices :o

Just been to the spud shed and bought a heap of plums. They were still $3.99/kg but I felt in the need of some stewed plums. :) Got some nice peaches and apricots too.

Is Spudshed a WA thing only? Why cant we have something like that in Victoria??? ???
I can't stand going to Coles/Woolies or good quality fruiterers to pay jacked up prices especially for fruit and veg that is in season. For that matter, does anyone in Melbourne have a reliable and cheap source of their fruit and veg?? Ever since getting my TM I find it is better to buy things like that in bulk and make more than one batch of jams/relishes etc at a time.

I'm pretty sure spud shed is WA only. The owner had an argument with the WA potato board and set up on his own several years ago. We have only recently had one set up near us. It is actually built on Commonwealth land at the small plane airport and trades 24 hours a day. We have very restrictive trading hours here in WA. I find that products in season are really nice there but you do have to select carefully. I would even go just for the milk as I now pay $1.79 for 2 litres of milk not what the supermarkets are asking.

Keep an eye out for Harvey Fresh 2l cream Cookie1. The Baldivis Spudshed sometimes have it (although not recently) and I'm hoping the Jandakot one will as well.

Will this recipe work for stewing other fruits too? I have been searching the forum for instructions on making stewed fruit (apricots in particular, as we have just picked four bucketfuls) but can't seem to find anything other than jam recipes.

MeganL, Apricot chutney is a good way of using excess Apricots.

I made Isi's fruit crumble cake (I think it is called that) using plums recently. It was so delicious I had to send it to work with Hubby after 1 slice. ;) ;D

Yesterday made some Nectarine 'ice cream), Very experimental as it contained cashew nuts instead of cream. Haven't posted recipe yet, but basically, stewed nectarines, lemon juice and cashew nuts. Churned in Ice cream machine and stired through nectarine and raspberry jam.
Think plums could be used.
