Great decision, Sharon, and welcome to the forum.  Now that you have decided to buy a TMX you have taken a good first step in keeping in touch with this forum, it will give you so many ideas you will become very impatient whilst you wait until you can get your own machine and start cooking and experimenting.

Welcome to the forum Sharon, nice to see another from my part of the world. North, south, east or west?
Love your idea of preparing yourself in advance - you will be so ready to start by the time you get your machine.
Hope the waiting won't be too long for you.

Welcome to the forum Sharon and the world of TMX.  You are in similar company, being the queen of kitchen gadgets, my initial response after the demo of thermie, there was no way to justify another 1.  Like you, I researched and stalked the threads of this forum to find all I could - it was my husband who convinced me to purchase the 1 appliance which I would prefer never to be without.  Cheers  :)  :)

Get your husband to see a demo, my husband could not give our demonstrator his cc details quick enough after seeing the thermomix in action!

Me too!! I can't wait to try all the TM recipes that I've squirreled away over the past year or so.

I first saw the TM at a demo at a friend's place. I wasn't convinced to start with as I love the whole process of cooking (including stirring the risotto!) but after being lucky enough to 'try before you buy' (I babysat TM while my friend went away for a couple of week), I realised that TM wouldn't take over in the kitchen after all... I could still be the chef and TM can be my slave! He can chop, stir, grind and mix away while I do the rest :)

Anyway, I'm still saving so TM is a little way off yet. But in the two weeks I borrowed one, I managed to make a whole bunch of recipes from the EDC and convert a few others to see how they went. Yo-Yo biscuits and a Chicken Pistachio Korma were my most successful and yummiest conversions.

Pavlova in the TM, however, was a disaster... I had to rescue the eggs with Big Red (my friend's Kitchen Aid that I was borrowing at the same time - the Kitchen Aid vs TM challenge!). Although, after having read a few forums on whipping egg whites, I'd be willing to give it another go in the TM.

I do hope both you girls manage to save enough to get your TMX sooner rather than later.  Great idea littlerikagirl, you'd have quite a recipe book by now I imagine and how hard was it to have to give the TMX back after 2 glorious weeks. You can post your recipes you have converted if you wish, we'd love to see them.  As far as pavlovas are concerned, I have found using the 50o method really makes them bulk up - had great success recently whipping 2 egg whites to fold through custard using this method and it was the best looking egg white mix I've ever been able to produce.

Thanks for the tip on the egg whites, I'll try it out once TM has a permanent spot in the kitchen :)

Here's the two recipes I converted. Enjoy!

Thanks littlerikagirl, you would have to be the first person to post recipes before they bought a TMX.
