Cheese Devils
200g cheese
1 egg
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 Tbs tomato sauce or paste (I use relish)
pinch pepper
1 rash diced bacon
6-8 slices of buttered bread
Preheat oven to 180
place cheese in TM and grate for 5 sec speed 7.
add all other ingredients and mix 10 sec, reverse speed 3.
Spread mixture on buttered bread and place on tray.
cook 15 min or untill desired. cut into fingers and serve.
Great savory for partys.

dede, is that like what Mum used to call Welsh Rarebit?
-
Im not sure Judy. I have been making it for quiet a few years. Always goes down well at partys or just for lunch. I decided today to make it with the help of the TM. So much quicker.
-
Yummy. I use relish in mine too Dede. We call it savoury toast down here in Tassie. I have always wondered what Welsh Rarebit was JD. ;D
-
It does sound a bit like it but better with some nice extras in it. Also the welsh rarebit recipe I have (Day to day cookery) you just spread on toast not cooked in oven for 15mins. How did your ma do it JD?
-
Ma (yes I do call my Mum that Nay-nay :D) used to spread it on toast and grill it but she was always a bit heavy handed with 'a pinch of cayenne' and I never liked it when I was a kid - plain grilled cheese on toast was more to my liking.
-
Thanks dede. Something else to try.

Hi dede,
Tried these today, and gee they were tasty! Just one question - how thick do you put the spread onto the toast? I layered it on pretty thick, and after 15 mins in the oven the top was golden brown but the inside was still thick and a bit raw. I think I may have plastered it onto the toast too thick :P
-
Hi KJH, Maybe a little thick by the sounds of it. Some times I use more than the 8 slices of bread. My kids love it and its quick and easy to whip together. Makes a good snack after school.
-
Made vegetarian version for breakfast and DD's lunch box. Kids loves this and me too ;D ;D
-
I love making these, delicious and now even easier :D
JD, welsh rarebit is cheese (very mature cheddar), mustard, ale or stout and yes a nice big pinch of cayenne!
-
Haven't had these in years, my mum use to make these when we had visitors when we were kids, and that's a long long time ago :)
Must make them for my family for lunch on the weekend.
-
Thanks knittercook, I think I would prefer this version unless I left the cayenne out. A pinch to me is like a couple of grains only ;D

sounds good, I can make this for work, and grill here.
