Title: Suggestion wanted for wedding anniversary dinner
Post by: dgg9879 on April 02, 2011, 12:33:08 am
I am putting on a dinner for a couple who are having their 16th wedding anniversary. Their child and another couple will also be there. So I will be cooking for 6.

They already said they like the idea of a chocolate souffle (which I have a Thermomix recipe for).

Will it be a problem doing the souffle for 6 people though?

They like chicken and beef and they don't like seafood. They are ok with all the common veges.

Any suggestions please for good entree and main meal for them?

Thanks

How lovely of you dgg9879 - lucky friends you have.
Have you seen this  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3675.0) recipe from farfallina for a souffle for 6 which can be prepared in advance, CC gave it the thumbs up. I usually serve a light soup like this  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=414.0) chicken & sweetcorn recipe for entree with home made bread rolls (that always impresses). Pity they don't like seafood but I love crepes for entertaining - usually a seafood filling but I've also done it with honey mustard chicken  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=5129.0) and it is delicious. It can be made well in advance and I have frozen the filled crepes. Just be sure to put them on baking paper when you cook them.
Plenty of choices on here for a lovely meal so good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks for those great suggestions. The dinner party is next weekend (one week's time) so it will give me a chance to practice.

I think either the mushroom soup or the cauliflower soup (EDC) make fantastic entrees - also served with fresh bread rolls.  Pop that in the Thermoserver & then get the main meal on - something like Quirky Jo's Coconut Chicken dish found here:

(oohps don't know why that's not hyperlinking - but it's in the all in one dishes).

It'll be seamless......... especially if you prepare your souffle ahead of time (which I didn't know you could do Judy!!).

Enjoy  :)

I have to agree with JD. I have made those souffles and OMG they are to die for. I actually prepared mine in advance and they were in the freezer for quite a few hours. I just adjusted the cooking time to allow for defrosting and cooking. Heaven!!!! I also like JD's idea of the honey mustard chicken for the filling for crepes. I love this recipe and I'm now going to try it is crepes as suggested.

Whatever you decide dgg9879 - Good Luck with it all!

I cooked my souffles from frozen Twitterpated and they turned out great. :)
