Does anyone know how to store Quirky Jo's chicken stock paste? I've just made it and am unsure whether to put it in the fridge or freezer. Do I sterilize a jar to put it in??? Also anyone know how long it will keep for? HELP please.

Hi hools,
I just put it in a jar (washed and dried but not sterilised) and keep it in the fridge. It has lasted for at least 4 months with no problems. I am sure you could also freeze it too.

Thanks KJH. Does the salt keep the chicken from going off? I've put a bit in a jar which had been rinsed with boiling water and the rest I've put in a snap lock bag and flattened it and put in the freezer. I think that's what JD does with hers. Thinking about making a nice chicken soup. Yum!

The salt does preserve it. Next time I make a batch I am thinking of cutting the salt down a bit and freezing it, just to try something different. Chicken soup - yummy!

Yes Hools, it stores fine in the fridge for a few months - never lasts 4 months at our place because I use it in so many things! Just had my creamy chicken & brown rice soup for lunch - nice and filling on a cool day! :)

Thanks

Hally, you can find it in the 'My Way of Cooking' cookbook, or my version is here with my Creamy Chicken & Brown Rice Soup (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/07/creamy-chicken-brown-rice-soup.html) recipe. :)

Thank you Jo.
I dont have "My way of Cooking".
I am looking forward to trying this as I always boil up bones and veggies to make stock. This will be great to have it on hand.
