hiya
I'm a newbie and would love some advice on uses for the butterfly whisk. I realise it's for whipping cream/mash potatoes etc.
I've seen some recipes that include it...e.g. when making dishes with solids in them ...like risotto or casserole etc...
What is the benefit of using the butterfly in such cases!
What else should i be using the butterfly for?
thanks!

I don't use mine an awful lot Pepleep but some further uses are when making Sabayon, beating egg whites, beating eggs & sugar, some people use it when making risotto and I'm sure others will add things they use it for too.

What is the butterfly you are speaking of??
LOL sorry no help as I pretty much never use mine, even in recipes when it's included I get it out, sit it in front of the tmx and find it sitting there at the end.

LOL Zan, that is exactly how my DH speaks :D
It helps to move stuff around the bowl without having to increase the speed (eg risotto etc) I often use it and have found it helpful with meat and mince dished. Only thing you need to remember is to not exceed speed 4 ;)

you generally use it where you would use a whisk in a recipe or a spoon to keep ingredients moving like faffa mentioned but have to also admit I dont use mine all that often either...mainly only for sorbet and egg whites and in the occasional dish..but as faffa also mentioned you have to be very careful of the speed (no greater than speed 4 unless you like plastic bits in your food lol)

thank you all.
Happy Thermomixing!

Try it for making your own butter in 4 mins! Also obbviously for world-famous, restaurant-quality, hands-down best-ever mashed potatos! We have ben told to use it when making risotto - it helps to stir through very evenly and avoids any sticking on the bottom, although I admit I find it is just as good when I don't use it...

I use mine all the time for making mashed potatoes too...yummmmmmmmmmy :D
