Title: Australia Come Dine with Me and UK Thermomix
Post by: Katya on May 26, 2011, 04:16:32 pm
Australian Come Dine with Me is being shown here in the UK on Channel 4 at the moment.    There was an episode recently where a contestant called Jane cooked an Italian meal using her machine (unfortunately she didn't win  :'( ).   According to the Facebook page of Why Is There Air (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Why-is-There-Air/137609556277263 (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Why-is-There-Air/137609556277263)), the UK Thermomix web site had over 60,000 hits in the hour following the program.

Blimey Katya the power of a television programme. :o :o I wonder how many machines they sold as a result of that episode.

I saw that episode quite a while back and if I remember correctly, Jane cooked too many courses with the same theme of ingredients (was it liver in 2 dishes) and I don't think she made her own bread either. Someone may remember more clearly than me but it was bound to get people interested in the TMX.

She spent the whole time singing the praises of her machine but, as JD says, didn't really produce a very creative meal which was a shame.

But I think the episode did well in showing how versatile the Thermomix is so that can only be a good thing

I just love that show, and wish it was on 'normal' TV. My Kitchen Rules has that little bit of home restaurant element at the beginning which is the best part, but Masterchef doesn't have it at all. I love how CDWM they always have 'the difficult/fussy/knowitall' person right at the end, and its always interesting to see how their evening turns out  ;D
