Title: search
Post by: pumpkin pie on May 27, 2011, 01:11:29 pm
Sorry but don't have time to go through all the pages of chat, but does anyone else have trouble with the search section. I have just spent 10min trying to search for a recipe that i know is there, just to be told that it isn't there, so had to manually go through the section where it would be.  It seems to me, that unless you print the search exactly as it is, capital letters etc it doesn't give you all the options there are for it. Am I using this section wrong?

Click on the "Home" tab in above toolbar first, and then type what your looking for in the "Search"   box above it.

I still get caught out and forget to go home ... otherwise you are only searching in the category that you are currently in. Remember too that recipes are not always posted where you think they might be. Some of them are still within threads but they will search from the home page like Maddy said  ;)

The best tip I can pass onto you for searching is to google what you are after. eg a general query if you don't remember what the recipe is called  'curried chicken in the thermomix' - you will get lots of options either from the forum or people's blogs. If you know the name of the recipe you want, eg never fail cupcakes, google that with the addition of the word thermomix and it will give you the link to click onto.  No need to use capitals and close enough is often good enough to come up with what you want. Sometimes you can even find recipes from books you may not have - if someone has put the recipe onto their blog or a forum, Mr Google will find it for you.  Easy peasy as Jamie would say  ;D ;D

that has happened to me a few times..the search thing not forgetting to go home lol but now I have learnt to go to the home page to properly do a search.  Maybe they should fix that so that you can search from wherever??
