Title: Vegetarian pizza
Post by: Halex on June 08, 2011, 03:32:50 am
I am off to the shops shortly to buy a few things to make a couple of vegetarian pizzas.

Would love some ideas :)

I use baby spinach but a few recipes recommend that I cook before placing on base. I always added raw  leaves at the end of cooking.

What do you all do?

Thanks
Hally

I owned  an italians restaurant  for 10 years and still work in one, its my sons restaurant, we add raw baby spinach and rocket or if we need too will add towards the end of cooking with a sprinkle of extra cheese and give it 2 3 min more of baking time . Tip, the mushroom should be the last topping, just b4 the cheese on top

buon appetito

That's funny, we were just talking about our favourite pizza toppings over on my fb page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Quirky-Cooking/124673354253243)!  :)

I made one of my favourites tonight - spelt base, lots of garlic, lots of sliced mushrooms, oregano, herb salt, parmesan or 'poor man's parmesan' (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/03/dairy-free-parmesan.html) if dairy free, and a drizzle of olive oil all over - yum!!

I also love pizzas with salad on top - I make a salmon salad pizza (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/08/salmon-salad-pizza.html), an avocado salad pizza (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2009/05/avocado-topping-for-dairy-free-pizza.html), and a lamb mince & salad pizza (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2010/03/lamb-mince-salad-pizza.html). :)

Jo your pizzas sound great.

I made Jamie olivers dough, so much easier  in the TM. Thanks Cornish Cream.

Faffa made the pizza Bianca, your right it was yummy.

Also did own tomato sauce, onions, boccocini, mushrooms, spinach, sun dried tomatoes and cheese.

The other onw was as above minus onions and sun dried tomatoes.

Added spinach in last 2 mins.

All were delish.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

Hi Hally, I'm sure you have already made and enjoyed your pizza, but some of the things I love to put on a veg pizza -  I get jars of sliced olives, sundried or semi dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and roasted capsicum (slice into small bits), halved cherry tomatoes, fetta cheese, fresh basil leaves, grated parmijan. I whip up a tomatoe sauce in TM with (onoin, garlic, tom paste and tin tom, herbs), then fill lots of little bowls with everything so everyone can pick their own toppings. Its fun and YUM! I find the Pizza dough in EDCB makes 4 thin pizza bases - but donn't overload with topping, less is more!

Any tips for making pizza bianca anyone? Do you drizzle more olive oil on when the pizza is cooked?  Do you use fresh herbs? When do you add the herbs?

Hi there, I have made about 3 and they were all yummy.

I use the Jamie Oliver dough that cc sent m the link for the TM coversion. I sprinkle fresh herbs, then the best olive I can find and cook until crispy looking, absolutely delish, 1st time used salt as well but we prefer without salt

Hope you find it

Sure is. I'm glad I'm a West Aussie, we are the last to get up so we get on the forum late and dear Judy has done all the hard work.
In some posts you can see posts from 'the east', then SA and then WA and then when evening starts here all our wonderful members from other parts of the world. I would never have thought 20 years ago that I could belong to a forum where we were in contact with over seas people so easily. It is truly amazing to me.

Do the pizza makers out there mostly agree that this is the best recipe to use for pizza dough? Have seen quite a few but not sure which one to use.

My favorite vego pizza topping I stole from Good Life Pizza in Adelaide.

I part steam, sweet potato, raw beetroot (not from a can). Tomato topping, with or without cheese I place veges on top plus some fresh green beans.

- Roast Vegetable pizza - so yummy. At the restaurant they also put capsicum but I am allergic to it, so leave it out.

We love to have some zucchini ribbon on our pizza too, along with roasted caps, mushroom and cheese.
